Four nights away at last

I managed to have a nice break at Somerset Dam Holiday Park for 4 nights. http://www.lakesomerset.com.au/

It was a birthday celebration weekend for my niece. Thursday and Friday were very hot days, 33 on Friday, then it rained on Saturday and the temp dropped to 22! It was clearing by late afternoon, just in time for the festivities, thank goodness.

It's a very popular park for fishing, boating, skiing, and swimming, with plenty of room for tents and caravans. The powered sites looked a little too 'sardinee' for my liking, but we didn't need power.

I personally found it a bit expensive, but I know that as soon as they add the words 'holiday park' or 'tourist park', the price goes up. I actually had a little disagreement at the office with sorting out a pricing issue, so I would warn others to be sure to check they've been charged right.

Other than that, the amenities are clean, it's well set out and as I said, there's plenty of room.

Good to see you got away Beth. Great up that part of the world. Will eventually make my way up there.

Thanks Sharon and Doug.

I've had a year of poor health, so I'm trying to think positive thoughts for 2014. After having an iron infusion and now a course of Prednisone again, I'm feeling a lot more energetic. We'll see how this body goes after I've finished this course in January. hmm I'm hoping to do a trip west around Easter.

Did you catch any fish,Beth? I stayed at a park at Kirkleigh, some years ago, and landed some nice bass. The weekends are full of noisy ski boats and their occupants. Nice country with Cooroy just up the road. I want to do some exploring in the area soon.Glad you enjoyed yourself. See you soon, Bill

Just between you and me Beth, I wouldn't meet up with bigW, he is not a very nice wombat really.

I actually said to meet up and he is a nice wombat but the iPad seems to have a mind of it's own. That or Dazren hacked into my poota again.

No, I didn't do any fishing Bill. My two son's tried a bit from the shore with no luck. Yes, the jet skis were out in force, and why do they have top hang around near the shore? To show off to their friends, we decided. biggrin Anyway, it's a big dam so the boats went far away from the jet skis.

Bill, I had planned to go across from there to my sisters at Tin Can Bay but the 'gods' were against me for a few reasons. I'll be heading up in the New Year though.

I do hope to get to WA some time Wombat, but I think it'll have to be a fly in and go on a tour.

I know what you mean Beth, we are doing that in Vic, going home today, nothing like your own hole to return to.

Geez Beth, 4 days would hardly be worth packing the van for! But I'm glad you had a nice time, and showed yourself "Yes I can"!

Circumstances prevented me from staying away longer GD. And yes, I'm certainly glad I was well enough to do it. Between an iron infusion and another course of Prednisone, it's been great to have some energy again.
