top 5 good things about caravanning & top 5 bad things about caravanning

Hi everyone

i thought this would be interesting topic.

we have now been on the road just under six months and have found some things as i excepted an some not so much so here goes my top five

GOOD

1. new places - i have always enjoyed traveling so see new places tops the list

2. not having to work - having gone straight from school to uni and then into work with no more that a total of five weeks of at anyone time, not having to have the stress of work (at least for now) is a new and wonderful thing

3. cooking - i love to cook but have not had the chance to indulge to the degree i do now

4. reading - having time to read whenever and what ever i want for no other reason than it pleases me

5. making new friends- the network is growing by the week

BAD

1. Being bored - i know this sounds strange, i am still learning to do nothing after a life of always doing ten things at once

2. not seeing everything, there is so much to see and not always the energy or time to see it

3. missing by chiropractor - enough said

4. missing my sister and best friend - although we have made a deal that i will fly home once every six months'

5. budgeting - this one is a new one as i have never lived on such a small income before - but I'm leaving - lol

so that my top five.

now its you turn

Good

2 . Sightseeing and exploring new things .
3 . Shopping in different towns .
4 . If don't like a place or camp spot can pack up and leave .
5 . Can do my craft without feeling guilty .

Bad .
1 . Miss my bathroom .
2 . Bit wary of the weather and don't like the strong winds in van .
3 . Not being able to afford entry into all the interesting displays .
4 . Miss my kids visiting for a cuppa .
5 . More inclined to worry about the dog's health .

Gee i really found that hard , had never wrote the good and bad thoughts down before . Be very interested in what others write . Good post Sylva .

Interesting Sylva, I will try also.

1. Get the house work done in no time flat.
2. No gardening to worry about. Don't like that weed I can move.
3. Exploring new places and seeing new things.
4. Learning new skills all the time and gathering confidence in doing "boy"stuff.
5. Meeting new people and speaking with people from all walks of life and backgrounds.

No so much bad as just not so good I guess

1. Like Sherbet I miss my bathroom at times.
2. Not having a good supply of never ending water for a really good shower at times.
3. Actually miss my Mum and taking her for her weekly drives

No that is about it for the bad things. I am having too good a time to miss anything, I don't tend to sweat the small stuff and I am doing things and seeing places I did not think I could or would ever do. Just love it. Great post though and really makes one think.

Our greatest joy/sheer bliss when travelling is not running into folk we know unless we choose to....love the anonymity of being able to wear what we like, do what we like, when we choose to, without the distractions one has at home in a country town of constantly 'running' into people...like inescapable supermarket isles....great to shop confident in the knowledge Bertie Dead Set Boring is not lurking in the next supermarket isle...Lol.....no.

We don't find any downside to travelling and we hit the road January 2010......biggrin Hoo Roo

I learnt from the first time I took 6 months off from my contract work that it takes about 6-8 weeks to get into....the vibe of it!

good stuff
1. housework takes about 10 mins.
2. having time to really take great walks and plays with my Whippet boys.
3. the luxury of being in charge/control of my own time - read/music/walks etc when I want too.
4. Eat when I want to, not because it is workaday lunchtime.
5. Last but probably the best think of all - meeting new people, interesting people who are happy to have a chat about real stuff!

bad stuff
1. Money a bit tight, not enough to have to really worry about but sometimes have to have a very quiet week or two to save for a big splash
2. sometimes wondering where the cash will come from for an upgrade when required
3. you know, I really cannot think of too much else that is bad....oh, I know
4. you get to a spot where you would really like to stay for a night or three and....no freedom camp and the CP has delusions of Grandeur and charges just short of a night at The Ritz Carlton.
5. Last of all, as a solo traveller....at times it just happens that one experiances something one really would like to have someone to share the moment with..sunset or meal or a good band playing...
