Night out in Shepparton

I had been invited to go to the RSL in Shepparton on Friday night to listen to a group and have a dance so I made special preparations. So for this special occasion I had a shower and donned my going out clothes hanging in a special cover behind the passenger seat and for this outing had bought some hair control stuff to keep my washed hair from falling over my forehead and ears. I joined the happy hour feeling well presented and smooth but was shot down immediately by Steve who told me that he had a shirt like that in the 60's, oh well the retro look may be coming back in.

Billeee and Julie had decided to have a night out, I think it was their first actual evening out and going to a dance. They had offered to take me since my bus is booked in on Monday for a wheel seal leak and I didn't want to drive it. So off we went leaving Greens Lake in just the right time to arrive at the RSL by 6pm and the Bistro opening, good job we were there first thing because we hadn't booked and only just got a table. I was surprised to see the new signing in procedure, no more showing ID and signing in now all you have to do is scan your driving license and an entry form is printed complete with your name. Shades of Big Brother and more governmental powers of keeping track on the populace.

If you ever go to the Bistro take a tip from me and don't order the seafood platter unless you have a gargantuan appetite or intend to share it with your partner, with hindsight I should have ordered from the Seniors Menu and had a smaller meal. It was good food but far too much of it, I suppose that I am getting used to my food preparation without much surplus there. In the the Furphy?? Room for the evening's entertainment, I took a raffle ticket and sat through 25 numbers being drawn and the nearest I came was 2 out. Something different, I saved the table whilst Billeee went out to the mobile home to do some of his free hour phone calls and Julie hit the pokeys.

The group started at 8pm and after a while I actually saw Billeee get up and ask Juie to have a dance but by the time I had retrieved the camera and headed to the dance floor to record this unusual event they were heading back to the table but not to worry Billeee took the camera to the floor  to record Julie and myself dancing, if you call those strange movements I was doing dancing.

The evening progressed well but we were looking for Patty who had invited me in the first place and I suspect that was why Billeee and Julie went out for the night. Julie got an SMS at 9pm letting her know that Patty was running a bit late and at 10pm we left for the long drive back to Greens. So that was our night out in Shepparton but I learned that if I wanted to meet new people and make friends it would be easy at the Shepp RSL. Lots of single ladies.      John

The three of you look as though you all enjoyed the night, good on you. Those meals did look good John.

Where is the Shepparton RSL actually situated John? I'm guessing only but maybe down near the Hospital area perhaps?

Shepparton RSL is in Wyndham Street, Dougewe - turn left just before the cow park (first lights after the causeway) turn at the Vic Hotel - parking out the back!

Interesting the way John clenches his fists while on the dance floor. Maybe it's a punch thing left over from his boxing days. Anyway, it's great to see all y'all having such a great time.

Hi Patty - sorry you didn't make it to meet up with us last Friday night - we enjoyed the club - food and music!

Saw you in Shepparton yesterday - opposite Red Rooster - not in our motorhome, with someone else. We are still waiting for a replacement freezer door to arrive at GV Caravan repairs - ordered it on Friday -

Couple of more arrivals out here - including Ziggy - Marj is away till Monday I think.

When are you coming back? Miss you!
