Back to Greens Lake

Arrived back from Delatite Arm on Friday night after having a long day stoppng in various townships, Mansfield to catch up on the internet and have a Subway lunch and Seymour for another break and for directions. We stopped at Heathcote for hot chips and a rest then off to Greens Lake, Patty carried on past Greens to her daughters place and I went home.

Just arrived and was surprised to see Richard (Jetski)  had arrived and came over. I was going to put a couple of things out but he took over and in no time I was set up fully for camping. Been a quiet couple of days meeting some new arrivals and taking over my fire warden duties, havent used the choofer for ages whilst there is still plenty of wood for the open fire.

I left my old repaired chair out and when I went to get it back it was broken again but this time I junked it and was in the market to replace it until Michael gave me an almost new Engel seat he said that over two chairs for a solo traveller was un necessary so he gave me his third. Patty has been back and off again and now here until Friday and the plan is for me to go to a dance at the Shepparton RSL.

Was concerned about some oil leaking from under the front wheel cover and Kevin checked it out to find that  the small cap was packed with grease which had melted and seeped from under the end cap. I cleaned it all out and put a small amount back then sealed the cap with silastic hopefully all will be well. When checking out the rear wheels Kevin noticed another leak which seems to be much more serious.

I will be going to Shepparton on Friday for the dance so will set off early to visit Jim, Richards father who is a truckie and well experienced in handling wheel problems. Yesterday Tuesday I was pleasantly surprised to have a visit from Tom and Bindi who were crossing Victoria enroute to Tassie, the last time we had met up was at Margaret River in February 2012. Plenty to talk about and continued until past 10pm around the fire with others from our group.

Richard joined us apparently he had brought out a tinnie and has been hooning around the lake in it with Brian on a knee board behind. The general idea is for me today to take his place and get towed around the lake, when in my 30s I tried out water skiing and was towed across a lake whilst I tried to get up many times resulting in total failure. So with that experience behind me I should have no trouble in my 70s riding the knee board. No way out I have to do it later.

Later and I went to the lake and was given instructions on riding the knee board. Yeah right, all you have to do is to hang on as the boat builds up speed and when given the nod you just pull yourself up on to your knees. Well I hung on all round the lake but didn't even try to haul myself up on to my knees it was hard enough to hang on with out upsetting the balance by actually moving. I must admit that I enjoyed the experience and possibly could improve with practice but I think that enough is enough.     John

Looks like you enjoyed it and Richard's found a second home. Good on him.

That is a lovely sunrise photo John -and you sure looked like you had fun on the lake!!
Richard is a nice young man - always willing to lend a hand if needed - joins our fire sometimes.
