My fourth week at Greens Lake

Been out of range for a while and everything has changed with Greens having a new forum, apparently liddle doesn't like trivial mundane posts so if this fits that criteria TOUGH!!!!!

Week four started with Billeee and Julie going into Shepparton and inviting me to go along. Previously I had been invited to visit the Grand Villa 36 foot bus that Alice and Keith own and I had been impressed overall and come away with the idea of closing up my overhead cupboards with sliding doors. So I went to Bunnings and searched for the goodies to do the job.

I needed some tracking but the only dual type was plastic and 5 mil. and the 3ply was 7 mil. I ended up with 6 mil. MDF. I tried it against the top track and it just fitted but no way fitted into the bottom track as I later found. I phoned up one of our forum members Doug who was coming to Greens tomorrow and asked him to bring a saw to cut the doors, all good.

Quiet Wednesday but had a good happy hour the weather wasnt good enough for a fire at night and we had rain. I remembered my WA experiences with catching rain and filled up my drinking supplies with enough leftovers to fill the washing 20 litre containers too. A good result saving me from carrying water back for the washing and subsequent showers.

Thursday and Doug helped me measure and cut the cupboard doors, we had to borrow Michaels surface grinder to champher the edges allowing the doors to slide in the tracks. I borrowed a broad drill bit from Keith to cut finger holes instead of buying and fitting handles. The end result looks good and paint or varnish is the next job.

I thought that my 1000kva generator was enough for my needs but it baulked at driving Dougs saw and we had to borrow Billeees 2000kva unit to do the job. I checked it out the next day and it is working fine but was concerned that it may have had problems.

I have long wanted a table in the bus and been undecided about the best way to achieve that and Ted suggested hinging a flap down from the bench that Ray had built in Frankston. Good idea and there was enough material left over to do the job. Michael offered a piano hinge from his well stocked trailer so that is on for tomorrow Saturday and the table is finished just need a leg and a paint job

Last year at Greens the first party since my 50th.  Saturday is the 16th November and my birthday. 77 years young and having the best time of my life and currently surrounded by friends from The Grey Nomads forum. Looking back to the first birthday on the road at Cosy Corner in WA where no one knew it was my birthday and no one phoned I had to post on the forum Happy Birthday to Me.

Started packing up getting ready for an early start on Monday morning am having a few days by Lake Eilden with Patty so I will be able to catch up with little purchases when I get to Shepparton enroute. Had a great happy hour but I had packed my fire box and didnt do a fire Sunday night.

Monday morning and was packed up and ready for off early, went to Shepparton and caught up with groceries and some camping gear. Filled the gas bottle and bought stuff to finish my table from Bunnings then set off to Eilden and to catch up with Patty in Mansfield.    John

You have been busy John,

looks to me like Greens might also be the RV renovation capital with all the work you got done while you were there.

belated happy birthday for the 16th seems you had a great day.

safe travels

frank

Was that comment really fair?

I am very disappointed that you cannot see that I have posted numerous times to clarify that I have no problem with mundane posts provided they are in the mundane sub-forum.

Your posts are never mundane and I know a lot of members including myself look forward to reading what you have to say.

It's handy to be handy, John. I envy your skills at making things. My dad was like you but I'm afraid I inherited the wrong gene.
