UFO = Unidentified Flying Object
UHF = UltraHigh Frequency

Can you see a model number on the remote control, eg AKB72915207? It may be in very small print.

What options can you see in the Menu?

For example, when I select Menu -> Setup -> Programme Edit, I'm given a choice of DTV, Radio, or TV.

DTV = digital TV
Radio = digital Radio
TV = analogue TV

On my LG TVs, the model number (aka "Product Code") is printed on a sticker attached to the side of the set.

Folks, just bought a 1999 Sprinter Jabiru and it has an LG Flatron TV in it (about 15"). For some reason, it is only plugged into a 240v socket and has no direct 12v lead on it (I'm sure it will run on 12v as the AC/DC Adaptor lead on it plugs into the set via a '12v input'). Anyway......

The issue I have is that I can't pick up any channels on it at all. It has a UFO aerial fixed to the Jabiru but nothing......I'm guessing that the TV is analogue only and cannot pick up digital channels and as we have now switched off the analogue signal, this is why I can't pick up any channels?

Any TV techies out there?......

What is the model number of the TV?

BTW, maybe you should get rid of that UFO aerial and switch to UHF.

Hi Wirrroff;

               Why not give the customer care of LG a ring and they will tell you if your model is just a analog or digital/ analog set . As for the set running off of your house battery i do not think there would be a problem while your mobile home is stationary, BUT while you are traveling your set would be running of your house battery that would also be 'on' charge from your start battery and while 'on' charge it's battery would be at about 13.8 ~ 14.6 Volts and a bit high in voltage for your set to cope with the extra voltage. This is why some manufactures make up a 12 Volt lead with a built in regulator to reduce back the voltage to 12 Volts and will also help with any spiking that may also happen ( mainly when the starter motor is used ).

LG would be the one's to contact in this regard, re the 12 Volt lead anyway.

Hi Dorian, we're VERY new to this motorhome lark and get confused easily (or maybe that's our age....). I'm not sure what you mean by switch to UHF. Does this make it better? Is the UFO thingy VHF? I presume it was fitted to the Jabiru from new so any advice you can give on the aerial would be great! As far as the TV itself goes, I can't seem to find a model number anywhere (it is screwed to the wall of the MH so it may be on the back) but I presume it's around 2000-2001 vintage.....

Maybe a silly question but have you powered up your antenna as it is a boosted unit and requires power to work..

Many years ago I was at LG when we began the Flatron brand.

Back then it was to describe CRT technology - picture tube. I don't believe it was used on LCD or plasma panel displays.
I suspect yours is a very old set now and almost surly won't pick up digital broadcast, analogue as you know is being shut down now.
Probably it's best to upgrade to something more current.

Hi folks, the antenna has an on/off switch next to it and I've tried that (also checked the fuse which is next to the main circuit breaker). The only 'numbers' I can find are on the remote control and they are; '6710V00061U' if this helps????

I also associate Flatron with CRTs, but nowadays it's used for all of LG's flat panel displays.

That does look like an analogue set. The remote is very similar to my old LG CRT TV.

If funds are tight, you could buy a set top box for $40 from places like JB HiFi. I have one, not for watching TV, but for recording TV programs on a pen drive.

Thanks for all your help folks and it turned out that the old TV was analogue and not very good! Bought a TV/DVD 19" ($230 Hardly Normal) and works a treat! Even the UFO is performing Dorian!
