Cargo barrier

Am looking to install a cargo barrier in my Hiace LWB (Frontline) where the couch runs along the back of the driver and passenger seats.

To date have found floor to ceiling cargo barriers - that won't work

Ideas appreciated

Try the wreckers for a Taxi barrier, should be able to be modified to suit. Would only be a half height job.

We have one in the Prado, its a "Ausguard Cargo Barrier" . Mr D doesn't remember whether it was made to fit or they come in a range of sizes, but we're very happy with it.
He recently took the back seats out of the Prado, put a level floor in that space and relocated the Cargo barrier to just behind the front seats. Works well. Very happy with the extra space, but are concerned we may have to get this "modification" inspected and approved by the NSW RMS... anybody know about that?

I tried googling the Ausguard, they don't seem to have a web-site?

Hi Gertie Dancer,
My local Toyota dealer refused to fit a cargo barrier in my Prado, said unlawful as I had 7 seats. Long story short, I went to Toyota in Camberwell n they fitted it, after I found I could do it by researching the Toyota website. And I'm sure they said I could have it put behind the front seats. I like the sound of removing the back seats, would be great for me!

if you live in Qld you will have to get a modification (blue plate) we have one in our patrol as the rear child seats were removed and outback drawes were fitted the patrol is now classed as a five seater

The permeant removal of seats requires an engineering report to re classify the vehicle as the seating has been change. That then is a case of getting a new plate with the new seating classification for the vehicle. This I suspect is in all states not just QLD.

Hmm... My partner has kept the seats, and he can and has put them back in (removing the cargo barrier) for occasions when the grandchildren were visiting etc. So its not a "permanent removal". I think we better do some research with the insurance company as well as RMS.

Thanks for the info. smile
