Hi Bobstar52, can I suggest you go into Google Maps and enter, Mt Gambier - Swan Hill - Nowra and see how it leads you. I find it is Usually a good way of heading places, you can make slight adjustments if you don't like it as well.

The first one listed will be the shortest way. May not be the best way though.

Hi Bobstar,

I would go to Penola, turn to Edenhope, follow the road to Horsham, take the Henty Hwy to Ouyen and then turn to the Mallee Hwy, takes you to Murray Valley Hwy, to Swan Hill.
Next leg to Nowra I am not so sure of, I would take the Sunraysia Hwy along the River, however not sure exactly where you would go from there.
Have done the Mt to Swan Hill/ Mildura a number of times.

Will have to wait for somebody more map savvy than I to plan the second leg of your journey. Taking that way to Swan Hill, probably looking at around 5-6 hours or there abouts.

I do that trip regularly, but use mostly back roads.

The roads that I use are all sealed, pretty straight, in good condition, and fairly free of traffic.

The route:- Mt Gambier - Penola - Langkoop - Edenhope - Horsham - Minyip - Donald - Dumosa - Swan Hill.

From the Murray Head to maybe Narranderra, and Wagga, Canberra then come to Nowra via Bungendore, Tarago, Nerriga and into Nowra without having to tow down the Clyde or Brown mountains... have a great trip!

I dare to be different  Bobstar.

Most roads in Vic are ok . I would head to - Dartmoor , Hamilton , Dunkeld , Glenthompson  , Ararat , Stawell

Marnoo , Donald , Thalla  , Dumosa , Swan Hill , don't forget at this time of year you have wheat harvest.
