Moonta..York Peninsula..South Australia

I grew up in Moonta and last year, I took my wife to have a look. It has not changed a lot and still has its charming buildings and cornish pasties. Ocean is so clear and unpolluted as it was when I was a child. No free camping , but has a caravan park at Moonta Bay and Port hughes..a few k,s away. Pics1-4 Moonta Bay 5. We went to Yorke Peninsular last year specifically to visit Moonta. My husband wanted to track down a family connection. After much research and piecing together he finally made the connection when we got back. But we really loved Moonta and although it was wet most of the time it made it good weather to enjoy Cornish pasties. Those jetties are so long - great exercise to walk them.

Neil and Ruth,
yes it is unspoilt. I am surprised Moonta did not take off in a big way. I lost count of how many trips I did up and down that jetty, working and swimming every day after school. Ahhhhh...to be that energetic again !!
Whilst we were there, we were offered a managers position for Pt Hughes (being ex caravan park mangers) but it was too big (been there done that ).

Loved seeing these photos and sharing your memories. We have a York Peninsula trip planned for February 2014. Would love to hear your thoughts on things to see , do or stay at.

Great jetty

cheers
