Started finding re runs of old shows on various media such as you tube and foxtel.   Shows I used to love back in the 50's, 60's and 70's seem terrible today.   Can't help myself but have to watch them for the nostalgia value.   Burke's Law, original Dr Who with William HARTNELL, Star Trek all had terrible special effects and shocking acting; yet at the time I thought they were great.  Ivan HUTCHINSON (R.I.P.) used to run a show called Ivan's Late Night Nostalgia where he presented old 40's and 50's shows which were great for a laugh, (the bad guy's hats never fell off during a punch up and Blackhawk could shoot a flying saucer out of the sky with a handgun.   Special effects included using a sparkler for a spaceship's jet burner).   One thing that I think stood the test of time was the original Jason and the Argonauts;  50 years old and the special effects are still generally pretty good and absolutely brilliant for its day.  I can still recall when T.V closed down about 11.00 p.m. on week nights and about 2.00a.m. on Fri/Sat.  Then a few years later, along came Hal TODD with his Late Movie, Late, Late Movie and Late, Late, Late Movie, where you got 5 minutes of movie in between about three hour blocks of Hal's plugs for Del Montie Suits which quote: 'Look Good. Feel Good. Are Good.'  He said it with such conviction that you almost believed him.  The frightening thing is I can still know the words to the theme songs to almost all the old shows.  Wish I had the same memory when it comes to S.W.M.B.O.'s name.

I used to really enjoy Yes Minister before I started working for the federal govt. Now that I know how accurate it is it's no where near as funny. On really frustrating days I felt like I was stuck in an episode of the showfurious.

I still love Mother and son and To the manor born.
