Hi Buffy61 - there will be quite a few people here over the Christmas/New Year period - a lot of families come here with boats etc., and camp for a few weeks. Saying that - there is always a spot somewhere around the place - you will find it.
As to fresh water - the water is from the lake, and we do not put it in our tanks, but use it for washing, showering, dishes etc. About 18k away is a small town called Girgarre where we go to fill our tanks, use the dump point, and you can get a hot shower there, when the Post Office is open, need to get a key which has a $30 deposit attached to it. The water from the lake can be taken from a tap in the toilets, you need to have a vandal proof tap handle - available from most hardware shops. You can, of course, swim in the lake.
Grey water - the trees and grass love it.
Not sure whether you mean Ararat or Ballarat - seems to be a mixture of the two in your question - but it took us about 2-1/2 hours to go to a town near Ballarat the other week, from here - and Ararat is near there - sort of. We travel pretty slowly though - not in a hurry.
Hopefully see and meet you in the New Year -

Hi Dianne - glad we could help - we love Greens, it is just so relaxed - this morning the sun is shining over the water, no wind (slight breeze) - what do we have to do today - oh yes, that's right absolutely nothing!!!!!
Expecting Ken Thomas and party to arrive and set up for a few days today - and who knows who else!!!! The more the merrier - there are fish in the lake (there are lots of carp, but others are catching yellow belly and red fin) - come on up and say g'day!!!
We have an enlarged Grey Nomads sticker on the back window of the motorhome, as do some of the others here. Camped in the treeline.

Yes Gary, similar to a Masons' handshake mate...its just up the road from me here in Bendigo..the place is so good when the Authorities work out just how good, its bound to attract ever increasing fees to stay there.....far too good for the likes of us!.....reminds me of a story my Dad used to tell me about the Princess Elizabeth...my Dad was an honourary Guardsman outside her bedroom at Buck Palace when he went with the Australian Contingent on her Coronation....but that's a story for another time...anyways, appearantly the Princess asked Prince Phillip after an early Royal Romp....Phillip do tell one..do the Commoners actually do this as well?....why...I do believe so... yes Liz, I believe they do....."Farr tooo good for them!!."......Hoo Roo.

Whatever it's called, it's contagious. I wonder if there's a twitch or some other telltale sign that distinguishes GNs who have camped at Greens from those who haven't.
Owned by the water authority here - not Nat Park - Community of Corop help maintain the area - grass has just been cut!!! There are now bins for bottles and cans, the CFA will use them to raise money for their necessities.
It is a great place, and would recommend it to anyone!!!

Thanks for that Jules...extremely helpful. And I meant Ararat...actually we will be staying with family in Pomonal, which is in that direction somewhere!
better get a few plastic containers for water I guess!
Heaps of room, as Dazren says, Banjo - come on over - plenty of room for you, may not get to the waterfront over the weekend, but once the weekend warriors go home, you can always move down there. We are camped up off the water, near the treeline to the left of the toilet block looking at the lake - as I say come on over - you will be made most welcome - look for the "Grey Nomad" stickers on the back windows of vans!!!!
ps - The road in is tarred for about 1k then gravel through the gate for about another 1.5k - easy driving - there is a boat ramp, fishing, flushing toilets, and the lake water can be used for washing, dishes etc.

Is it suitable there for larger rigs ? We have a 30' 5'th wheeler towed by a small truck not 4wd though !, we are totally self sufficient for free camping.
Banjo, Green Lake is suitable for any size ?? Up To and Including A 75 foot van towed by a B'Triple Road Train although you may have to be about 20 mtrs from the lake ??
