If you're going to relate it to pollies then "one foul swoop" may be more appropriate, or perhaps many foul swoops

S.W.M.B.O. is half Welsh and half Maltese, she also spent a few years in Germany. I do not DARE pick her up on the various pronounciations and enunciations that she uses. I generally gauge the tone of her voice and, hopefully, I respond accordingly. However this is not always an accurate reading of her requests nor does she always get the reply she wants. I find myself getting up off the floor a lot.
