May I ask how many of you listen to audio books while travelling? I did so on my recent trip and loved them. There was a problem in some areas finding them though without buying them full price. They are still expensive? I did find in Queensland that you could become a 6 month travelling member of the library and return books in other parts of the state which was great if you are staying in the one state. Some I posted back from NT. some I bought cheaply but only 2. I have a bit of a collection now and I'm wondering if there is some way I could arrange to lend them to other travelers or perhaps I might just put them up for sale. Maybe a swap might work?
Yes we do and really enjoy them. We wish you all the best with your thoughts of sharing them.
Brisbane City library has on line service using a media device to play audio books that I have started using. I play them though a tablet.
I am not big reader and on our reason overseas trip I downloaded 2 books and 1 audio book, read the 2 books and enjoyed them but with a 21 day loan time we only heard some of the audio book. Now I need to wait for it to come available again.
Hope you find a solution to sharing your audio books. Ralph
We get them from the library here in Perth (Victoria Park Library) and record them to MP3. (Where possible.)
Never got around to down loading any off the net as yet. As we still have a few to listen to.
It's a good way of catching up on those classic books you have never got around to reading as well.
Done it for a few years now. Tess of the D'Urbervilles was a recent one we both enjoyed. I probably would never have bothered with getting the book itself. But it was great having it read to you.
We got about 100 audio books from a friend before we left and since my car cd/radio player also has a usb port we just loaded a thumb drive up with audio books, plugged it in and listened to them all around Australia. Was so good.
Cheers
Jon

Hi alvie and rhys I hv a few mainly of the personal growth type..favourite at the moment is eckhart tolle his has a few out ...yes is in ans to yr question music is no 1 then the learning curve...books come from iTunes yes full price happy to pay....then library...I download discs ..all on my iPod sad world without music in it..or learning sumfing new
Hi Sheba, trouble with those is I have nothing now to play them on. Bit like old records, they went onto tapes, all chucked now, went to op shops, don't often play CD's use iphone 3, used to have ipod.
I buy my audiobooks from Downpour.com, as they are DRM Free (can play on any device) the range is not as good as Audible, and as they are a US site I look for the ones under $20 and have a long play time.
I Play them on my Nexus 7 tablet using Listen Audiobook Player (not sure if this was free) and paired to a JBL Charge Bluetooth speaker, which has its own battery, so I can get a many hours of listening without needing a powerpoint.
I also buy some from Audible.com and purchased some software for my Macbook to "convert" them, or I use the audible app, but lately have found the audio quality on some books is terrible.
I listen to audiobooks on my iphone when I travel in the car on my own. I also use Libravox recordings, which are free. I am listening to a collection of Edgar Allen Poe stories, I am up to The Raven now. Les' off sider on the truck also listens to audiobooks, but Les doesn't like them. He prefers music.
I have 1,000's of free audiobooks now, as well as ebooks waiting to be read. But I am a slow reader and only get the chance to read in bed. But audiobooks I can listen to anywhere.
I just download them via U torrent than I can put them on my phone or Android tablet or leave them on my computer and I can play them where ever I like
and If I would share them with someone I copy it on to a CD or a USB stick or send them by email ( if they are ebooks , audio is to big for email )
