About how expenise with Horseshoe Bay in South West Rocks

Personally I don't think the park has done anything wrong. If you went to the movies & after going in realised you had seen, or didn't like the movie would you expect a refund?  I doubt it.  If you left saying you won't be back why shouldn't they re-sell.

A seaside caravan park will get windy sometimes especially in storm season.  The Weather Bureau issues strong wind warnings usually days in advance, plenty of time to secure your van for safety.

I can't see anything in the T&C pertaining to refunds due to dis-satisfaction after arrival.

Cheers Neil

Welcome to all the new posters on this thread - rylstonecampers, Rick Birchmore, and FrednCaz (I haven't seen you here before). Hope rylstonecampers can post some more with better experiences. This forum is a great one. We really do have fun and there's always plenty of good advice.

We spreading the word again so no other people ripped off like we were by Horseshoe Bay Caravan Park

We were booked into their park from the 7th Oct to 21st Oct the area was having very strong winds during the time we were staying there on the Saturday the 12th Oct the winds were so bad be decided to pack up our van to not to get damage from the winds (we have a Jayco swan ) it took 6 people doing this because of the winds around 70knots

When we went to the office they told us there was no refund even though we still had 8 night left

Not to spoil the rest of our holiday we went and stayed with a friend who lives in SWR on the Monday we went around near the caravan park and found they had re booked another van onto that site so that means they got double the money for that site (we know they were there for 5day)

We rang the people who are running the caravan park they were so rude to us when we question how could they rebook the site when we had all ready paid until the 21st

It makes you wonder how many others they have done this too

I think it is one of the best park's around, I'd be back there at the drop of the hat. Right on the coast as it is you are going to strike wind at times, summer time the north easter's will blow you off that point. You bailed out early, they did not have to refund your money and why wouldn't they rebook your site, I am sorry, that's my opinion only, we found the owners very friendly and only too eager to help with any problems, I can't wait to get back up there.

if you are not happy with a site or conditions and the operators do not wish to give a refund you are entitled to leave and tell the staff not to rebook the site as you will be returning

It is an unfortunate fact of life the majority of caravan parks will not refund fees if you decide to leave early.

Refer to their Terms & Conditions Page : http://mvcholidayparks.com.au/horseshoe-bay-holiday-park/booking-conditions/

As they re let your site I would send a written request for refund as per the Refund Policy on the T & C web  page.

Sorry but I must agree with the previous posters. Winds are not the fault of the owners of the CP. It is a personal choice as to move on or stay. Having worked in tourism, this is life and although some people think the owners or manager are responsible for of God's weathers and woes, this is not the case.
I often refer to a lady who wanted a full refund from a high rise unit block on the sunshine coast because the picture of the pool showed full sun and well during her stay there this was not the case all day. She thought that was false advertising and demanded a refund. After explaining to her in very simple terms that the building at some point would cast a shadow, a refund was not given. She still did not get it. Oh the joys of dealing with the general public.
We all have to read the terms and conditions of any refund policy of any establishment and then make the choice. Weather conditions are not a reason for a full refund. IMHO.

Lesson learnt . Check weather conditions before going somewhere, especially on the coast. Not hard now days to check a week ahead and forecasts are getting fairly reliable nowedays though still not perfect every time.

All(edit  council) parks in this shire are run/destroyed by the same bloody  family; we had held onto out site of 30+yrs at xmas to have in retirement.

Fed up & discussed we let it go two yrs back.

These parks are controled by the council, be crown lands or whatever, they are too usless to run them, lease them to other companys who inturn appoint other managers & so on.

After 12 yrs of lack of/ to no managment in the one where we went I even photographed sections of problems, which included OH&S, sent them to council twice & no reply so handed it to the local member, had a reply in two days,Its bulls!#t. They exempted them selves from repairs due to no money.

These were health & saftey issues; no other business could get away with that. These are the same people that charge us rates, accountable to no one.disbeliefnodisbeliefnodisbeliefno

Hat Head is nice too, doesn't get quite as busy as it does here at Crescent Head, which can be a good thing. Not that I mind it getting busy otherwise I wouldn't make any $ for the year.
