Television Reception

Recently purchased a VAST Satellite set and as such had to remove aerial lead from the aerial and set it to the VAST outlet. All went well until we got to Esperance and tried to get TV. Yes, we had returned the lead to the correct place. No reception so used the dish for 3 weeks. Moved onto Coolgardiie. Same problem, no reception. No problem, out with the satellite dish. Now at Northam. Same problem, no reception. Tried the dish but surrounded by trees, no satellite. Then, (I'll call it a seniors moment - or month) I remembered that there used to be a little green light on the power connection board. The board has the 12volt plug as well as the TV aerial but it has a really tiny switch which turns the aerial on. It does need 12 volt apparently. May be handy to store in the memory for the future.

As a word, we got the VAST system, dish, leads, box, 3 point stand for $650 from Albany Television in, obviously, Albany. Great people.

If you have a look here: thegreynomads.activeboard.com/t50265382/vast-satellite-tv-coordinates/

you will find a link to the Hills Satellite elevation charts for C1 which you can download for offline reading.

Please note that the elevations given in this document are all 3 degrees high so you need to deduct 3 before setting your elevation.

hope that helps

Thanks KFT. Got the elevations and the angles and the degrees for Satellite TV, that hasn't been a problem. The problem was not having the power on the antenna for normal TV. The van park at Northam is full of trees and I couldn't get a look at the sky for Sat TV but didn't have normal TV because the antenna wasn't switched on.
