Free Camping and Extreme Fire Danger Days

Today is rated as an Extreme Fire Danger Day

May I suggest that if you are enjoying a beautiful free camp today in NSW you seriously look at moving to a Caravan Park with plenty of open ground and well clear of the bush, there are currently 16 sixteen fires burning in NSW and if you are near any of these you needed to have moved to a safer location as of yesterday.

Information on current Bush fires can be obtained from web site www.rfs.gov.au   There is also regular updates on the current fire situations on the ABC 702, and for those with a smart phone there is an app called fires near me.

Please keep safe out there in the playground

David

Thanks for the advice David. Will put that app on my phone.
Heading south soon, will be handy to know if I'm heading into any danger.

All travelers should have the apps for each state they are going through

SA = cfsfireapp

vic = fireready

If you keep an eye on the appropriate app if there is a fire in your area you will soon see it. Just need to check every few hours. I find that I am tuned for the smell of smoke and never put myself in a situation where I cant get out to safety in the fire and or flood times.

There are many camp sites that are safe and I would prefer to be in an area I can get out of quick where in a park if there was an emergency it would be get out if you can.

I think every responsible camper looks at the weather and their surrounds and make their decision. Those that throw caution to the wind bear the brunt of their decisions.

Regards
Brian

 When campers throw caution to the wind,and the attitude of she'll be right mate kind of attitude ,it puts other peoples lives at risk also trying to rescue these people.

Hi David

You may mean well but you must only post correct information.

I live in NSW and out of 21 fire zones only 3 have designated as extreme fire danger as at 2.20pm today.

 .It is much safer  for each person to check the area in which they live from the RFS

"

Cheers

Liddle

Hi Liddle

It seems I have achieved my goal in your case you have gone to the trouble of checking I suspect you have checked the RFS website as I suggested and from information which I received this morning it was much wiser to put out a general alert rather than try to list the Fire zones and then try to explain what towns are covered by these zones, It also seems to me that a number of our members have downloaded the app I suggested and others have checked the RFS web site. Our members are very wise and intelligent people.

I believe the information that I posted was accurate and was provided in good faith for the benefit of forum members.
