Hepworth ( Hepvo ) valve for grey water use

Looking at installing a GWT aft on out 24' Heritage - To keep the inlets near the top of the tank, the Hepvo valve seems the way to go rather than an S bend - have read comments that they will not close fully with minimal encouragement from kitchen crud and or hair from the shower - anyone real life experience as to how good these valves are ?

I assume no issues if installed vertically with decent flow, but installed nearly horizontal so limited fall & low pressure would seem to be the main cause.

Thanks

Gday Richard I have fitted dozens domestically ,and I have them in my own van both hor.and vert.no problems. In fact I have never had a comeback on an installation.Having said that remember waste does not run away if it is near flat !if one tries to wash away food wastes etc with insuffcient water then you are asking for trouble . I am often asked by vanners in parks to have a look at blockages and it never ceases to amaze how the waste runs away with such lousy gradients fitted by the manufacturers. For what its worth I always tip a bucket of very hot water shared between sink, shower and basin wastes on the last day of our trips before we head home.No need for chemicals etc . Cheers John

Thanks John pretty much in line with what I had worked out.

The kitchen as an S bend just under the sink so no issue - apart from the lack of fall which as you say is minimal

As the shower drain comes through the floor outboard of the chassis, it will have to be run under the chassis rail and back up to just under floor level creating its own water trap - currently 40mm (?) PVC is used for the existing drain runs so can use the same to connect the existing clear 25-30mm shower drain to give about a 100mm head over say 1500 - 2000mm to the GWT.

Vanity - make up an S bend in the 15 - 20mm PVC or something to mate with basin outlet right up under the basin.

As most crud will be ex kitchen, and this is the longest run, getting reasonable fall is the main issue as a long run.

Lot to be said for the 20L jerry can we use now smile
