Wentworth, NSW

Hi,

does anyone know of any dog friendly free camping close to Wentworth?

Also, I found reference to a dump point in Dareton, is this the closest to Wentworth?

We are currently at Lake Pamamaroo (Menindee) and are heading to Wentworth on Tue or Wed.

Thanks

Chris and Peter

Fort Courage is approx 18K out of Wentworth on the old Renmark road.

It is operated by the Wentworth Anglers Club.

Nice park on the river grass sites and dog friendly

If you go to http://caravanersforum.com/badger.php it gives you a list of parks by state showing which are DFP (dog friendly parks). When you click on the park you want the next page is comments from caravanners which gives you the true (most times) of the park together with a rating. There is then a link to a summary page and this then gives you a link to the parks own webb site. I used this site on our trip around Aus and always found a DFP. The links to the next pages are in blue.

If you head towards Mildura from Wentworth you will pass over a narrow bridge, it has lights and you have to wait if traffic is coming from other way. If coming from Dareton you come to a T intersection turn left there towards Mildura and you are nearly there.

Just after the bridge you will see a road on your right that turns back towards the river.

If you follow this road you will find many sites along the river bank.

Just be aware if it rains it could get boggy and also check for loose sand in some spots but there are very good sites if you look.

There is camping in Dareton down by the golf club alongside the river. Just go a kilometer or two past the club to get a way from any of the locals that may see you and decide to visit if you know what I mean. LOL

Through Wentworth heading west there are several nice spots on NSW side of the river. They are a few Kilometers out and you have to venture in towards the river and find them. They are normally used by the locals for fishing so make sure you leave the area as good or better than you find it.

Hope this helps
Brian

Thanks everyone, especially Brian (great info).

we ended up at Thegoa Lagoon just past Lock10 at Wentworth

there are great spots here right on the river even though site selection can be a problem due to Red River Gums

Cheers
