Dear Happy Campers

We are first time free campers, what can you recommend, good safe places to stop on our way?

Thank you

Have you got your Camps 7 book? First place to look, and which way are you going to head? Rough route you are taking? So many spots, hard to know what to recommend without some clues - free camping rules!!!!

Hey Tracey & Kim from SA, Hay NSW Camps 6 #524 I can recommend it, right on the river  a great spot. Depending then on which way you want to go but I would imagine you will head up the Newell from there?? Enjoy plenty of info on this site.

You can also do a search on this site under freecamps thread and should find some. I think there's one at Lake Cargellico. But the best idea is to get 'the book' and there is also another book put out by 'On the Road' magazine which has freecamps. It was only $19.95.

Camps 6 NSW #874 Lake Benanee is an excellent free camp. Fairly close to the Hwy but not overly noisy.I managed a good nights sleep and I wake at every noise. West of Balranald east of Euston.

We also stayed at Lake Benenee, pambaz, as you say a nice spot - how about all the rabbits!!!!!!

Out of Waikerie, at Ramco, there is camping by the river at Ramco Point, take the road next to the school, drive in past the boat ramp area, lots of spots!!

If you have a tablet you can also get the Wiki Camps app (free for 2 weeks then $3 to download) We have camps 6 and this, they complement each other. We are also on the road now and newbies to the whole thing. Good luck and enjoy.
