I agree in that it is the best c/ van park ...Used to work up in Broken Hill for awhile and I think from memory it was the only one that never used to make front page head lines in the local paper regarding..theft/ fights/ noise and a number of other incidents.

But...
The man most likely to buy it is the current Lessee of said CP...
Who also owns the Motel opposite the CP... AND has purchased land adjacent to the CP, which he intends to "develop" into a Cabin and Motor-Home Park...
This past year or so has seen the addition of splendiferous Cabins on the frontage... Plus a major upgrade in " Children's Play Equipment"...
Truth seems to be that Broken Hill City Council is curently Ca$h $trapped because of some 'coque-up' involving the rateable value of Mine Leases here - and the Duty-Mayor is supporting a Fire-Sale of the City's Assets to prop-up the budget-deficit...
The CP will continue to thrive and make a handsome profit, and expand, under private ownership...
Long Live the CP... God Save the Rate-Payers of Broken Hill...

There's only the two...
One near the Lake - LakeView CP, and the one on the Adelaide Rd, next to the GraveYard,,
The latter is the one owned by the Council...
By all accounts: the Council are saying that the CP is a "liability" - is "unprofitable"...
If that were the case, then why would the current Lessee be interested in Buying it...??
We pass this CP almost daily - and note that there are usually plenty of caravans occupying sites...
No doubt others who have visited this park can comment here re Occupancy...

Yes N&R there was the Silverland C/P that closed recently (March I think)after the owner passed away. There was nothing wrong with this park and much cheaper than the others in town,a real shame.
Cheers Baz
Do you know if the caravan park out in Silverton will re open ? As it was gazetted back in 1937 as a park for miners and their families to enjoy they even used to travel out to there by train from Broken Hill,It was named after John Penrose who was the Mayor for a time out there as well as the publicion and effectively a million air.
The Penrose trust manages this facility drawing funding from the NSW Government.

Oh, that CP is OK - except it charges too much and packs the caravans in during the prime time. Maybe it's the off season that makes it unprofitable. I thought there was also another park in town. Of course, there's also the racecourse you can use or out at Silverton.
