Hi there,

 

I'm new to the group, thanks for having me.

 

I have just acquired a 22 seat 1997 Toyota 50 Deluxe Coaster - anyone know its towing capacity, please, as it has no owner's manual?

 

It is a manual diesel 6 cylinders

I have a friend who tows a small suzy 4wd behind his. I would say that its the same as a landcruiser with the same motor ,2.5 or 3 tons.Not a lot of power, though, unless its a turbo. Bill

Hi bushgrrl

I've been researching info on Coasters as I plan to build one into a motorhome. Can't find the link right now but I'm certain I saw in some specs that the towing limit is 750kg unbraked and 2 tonnes braked. I've only been looking at Coasters from the '90s so this should cover your vehicle.

 I  think you are close here as I recall the GVM can be up to 4990kg for diesel and GCM 7000kg.

Maybe ring this mob,,, here's a 1997 VIN number 50 series I think GVM 4990kg,,, they may know towing capacity as they sell buses.
