RE: Sharing Overnight Parking

I was surprised in WA with all the new toilets and dumps at the 24 hour stops that they had not done the same at the truck stops. Dont truckies have our 'needs'? I have no problems with trucks using those stops. I am sure there are times when we really need to use their ones also.

No problems with sharing the rest areas with the truckies here either, even when I had my wizz bang there are ways to close the doors quietly. I have often boiled the billy and made a fresh real coffee brew for parked up truckies, no trouble for me and often appreciated by them, they 'carry' the country! Annie

No problem at all sharing with trucks, pilots or anyone else for that matter, as long as they are all respectful of others comfort!

Wizbangs, thought that would get every one talking, LOL.

Have to agree , there's good & bad in every system. Must admitt I watched a girl, (foriegn)one morning open & close a wizbang five times without letting the handle go.disbeliefnodisbeliefnodisbelief.

Last year when heading up north Qld there were all kinds of rigs arriving at free camps at 7.00am looking for a site & waiting for one to leave, does make you wonder.

Just as bad as wizzbangs are early morning caravaners who get up before dawn for an early departure, starting their vehicle and leaving them running, vehicle doors slamming, winding squeaky legs up etc, loud voices without any concern for those around them.

There are inconsiderate people in either wizzbangs and caravans.

Can't wait to park up beside you then JC. You ain't heard nothin' until you've heard the sound of a a Kombi wizbang slamming shut at 2300hrs biggrin

Actually, I'm very self conscious about the noise it makes, even throughout the day. I tend to leave it open unless I go for a long walk and the same at night until I go to bed. It's ok when I'm on my own at night, as I can get out the front passenger door, but I sometimes take a friend away with me and she takes enough baggage to sink the QE2no

I even bought  porta-potty so as not to have to get up to the loo overnight and disturb other campers, however that doesn't stop the less considerate from yelling and banging around at the crack of dawn just so they can be out on the road before everyone else. I always thought caravanning, even with the kids, was supposed to be all about taking it easy and enjoying the sights, not rushing from one camp to another like their lives would end if they weren't at a particular spot first. I just don't understand humans at times and I'm sure glad I'm not one of themsmile

As to the camping with truckies etc, I'd be more than happy to share a parking spot with them.

I thought of making up a sighn with a wiza on it enclosed with a red circle & a slash through it, buggers cant read.

Next trip I'm going to carry a very large roll of cling wrap. when they finialy go to sleep I will wrap the vehicle with it.smilesmilesmile

Can hear a dub dub comming a mile off.

Your call. LOL.

That's the trouble with wizbangs Jim, no matter how much you make sure the tracks are clean and lubricated, with most (including mine) unless you give the a good hard slam they don't shut properly.   The foreign girl may have been trying to close it quietly but it doesn't work that way.   So one big hard slam is better than a number of slams trying to be considerate and closing the door gently.

I always try to park away from others or with my door facing away from them if no choice of where I park.   I asked a caravan park manager to give me a parking spot once away from others, he told me he didn't have one and that my money was as good as what the others had paid so don't worry about it.

It is the nature of the beast, try to be considerate if you can (and that applies to caravanners too) but if others don't like what you have and your do try then it is "tough titties" as Ma Sheila would say.

No Vic, it wasn't a matter of trying to close the xyz door, she got five different items out of the vehicle, one by one. she almost pushed the wrong button.

There are so many that dont clean the grit from the tracks or lubricaate the bearings, just too lazy. We know that these doors have to be used but just how many times, cant be that hard to workout what you need at the time & do it in one operation, not 25.

With all the gadgets that truck have these days why don't they have shower and toilet on board.

I thought in this age of chain of responsibility your trip progress is out lined with your breaks sorted so you have parking arrangments and needs of the workers covered.

The rule makers set out all these rules, but when it comes to the poor truckies hygiene that get's over looked due to the fact it costs $$$$.

Herbie hi from my own long time experience in transport it not only the people that make the rules it's the transport companies that push the boundaries followed by the drivers themself and at times when I was younger trying to get ahead I pushed the rules to the limit but since say 2000 load planing has come into effect but drivers still go out stretch the rules, escort drivers don't need sit there All night with the loads and baby sit them they can go away and stay same where more suitable.
