We did a house sit in Katherine for 5 weeks and found the Sports Club in Giles Street (on the Gorge Road) the best in town. Very good restaurant meals at club prices, modern and good variety. The Golf Club also has a fairly basic meal which were large and well priced, the steaks were very tender. These are also the places to stop for clean ablutions rather than the public rest rooms in town. Woolworths is constantly busy and remember to take your own shopping bags as they charge 15 cents per bag. If you want to buy alcohol it's on sale after 2pm. On Saturday mornings they have a weekly market selling local produce, plants, hot foods, some local arts etc.
