None as far as I know, except to look up used caravan dealers websites (eg; Jayco, Coromal, RV sales etc, also places like for RV sale ads, auto traders, gumtree etc, etc, and see what they are asking for your type of van and work it out from there.
Go to the Trading Post site and narrow your search deatails down to the type of van you want to know the value of. Do the same on Ebay. This will give you the prices people are asking.
Note that dealers generally will ask more than a private person will on a sale. Also if you ask a dealer what your van is worth you can probably add 20% as the price he will offer will be low.
You could also post year and make on this forum and someone will hazard a guess. Beware of dealers that offer to sell "on consignment"
The best thing about owning and travelling in a caravan is that when ready to sell they do not have a speedometer, So very hard to tell if the van has been around the block once or twenty times if the person has taken the time to look after the maintenance side of things.
When I sold my last van I got more money than I payed for it and it had been around the block a few times.
But because of me maintaining it and doing a few up dates to it along the way.
Some used caravan yards jack up the price as high as 40%.
Hello Everyone, I know there is a red book to value cars but Is there a book that values caravans? if so, can this be found on the web? thanks.
Rocket hi not long back when I was chasing a new insurance on the van I asked to renew it with the same value as last year and one thing leads to another and was informed market value pay out and I asked where do they get that information from the reply was the good old autions, but every van is differant so how can they (insurers) justifry that.
Now there's something that hadn't occurred to me... caravans wear out but slide-ons? Slide-ons get piggy-backed all over the place, so they've got it easy. And unlike a motorhome, you can sell the ute and keep the camper, or vice versa.
the insurance companies have a red book, if you give them the year, make and model, they give you a quote on the price close to what your van would be worth.
I've just googled red book for caravans and found a site that is just that. Only problem is, it looks like you have to register and it costs. If there were a few of you that were close you may be able to share costs.
