Electrolux 3 way fridge vent question

On the RHS of the top vent, there is a vent insert (smaller vent) which when removed reveals a thin aluminium plate with a round hole in it, and  small tab with a tiny hole through it. The tab on mine is bent over in half as shown in the pic below.

1. What is the plate for?

2. Is it supposed to have the tab bent over like that?

3. If not, then is there supposed to be something attached to the tab?

4. Does it matter which way up or which way or which war around it goes?

5. Given that the upper louvers of the small insert vent are angled upwards from inside to outside, how is the rain kept out. (In my case it isn't kept out)

Note:- The fridge works very well on all 3 ways.

Thanks.

HI

That is suppose to be the EXHAUST vent from the boiler

The Boiler flue exhust should be coming off the top of the boiler to it so the HOT EXhaust air & gases are vented to the outside .

Not building up above the fridge

Do you have a roof vent for the fridge instead of that??

Hi Peter, there is no roof vent as the fridge is mounted low down.
The boiler tube ends just below & to the rhs of the grey pipe in the first pic.
There is no divider between the boiler section & the condenser section at all.
The boiler tube has a twisty thing hanging in it on a short wire to spread the heat out to the outer pipe, & that is clearly visible when looking in that hole.
Are you saying there is supposed to be a 90 degree section from the boiler tube to that aluminium plate?

Thanks.

http://www.electrolux.com.au/Support/Manuals/  here is another one that may help just type in the model No, but as Peter said that plate is for the boiler vent which looks like the installer hasn't fitted.

 HI

[1]So it is venting inside the rear compartment& building up heatno

[2]A  divder is just one of the improvements that can be made to improve ability in high ambient temps

[3]Yes, & that should always be in position

[4] Yes, to get the exhaust heat outsmilesmile

Butit seems some parts of the cover plate are now missing

There should be another plate that fits around the outlet & clips into the metal plate

That will prevent rain getting into the fridge rear section

& the upward sloping vents on the plastic cover ensure the exhaust gases have a continious UPWARD  flow!

Thanks Jim & Peter.

I have spent many hours on the internet this morning, and have really only found out which part I shouldn't have.

By that I mean that there are more than one flue top for the RM2310, depending on the product code that follows the model number.

Mine is RM2310-9266936, which according to this site [ http://www.appliancezone.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=83912 ]

does not use the flue top shown on that page, (my number is not shown in the model list) which seems correct as it wouldn't fit into the space in mine anyway.

The only parts diagram I can find for the RM2310 all show that flue top,..... as shown in this example:- [ http://bryantrv.com/docs2/docs/operating/rm2310.pdf ]

I have however found some parts listed on various sites that look like they MIGHT be what I am missing, so if anyone can explain how these bits go, I might be able to work out if they are for my model:-

This one looks particularly like the plate is the correct size & shape, however in mine the flue is vertical of course, and the plate is vertical also, which doesn't look right in the pic:-

Then there are these bits:-

Thanks again.

HI Phil
The middle angled piece is the sort you need but if it fits your I do not know
The height of your flue to the exterior vent outlet may mean you will need some sort of extension piece
The distance back from the Exterior vent cover also needs to be considered
It looks like the exterior grill may not be fitted exactly right for the vent to line

I guess you will need to take some measurements, then contact Dometic Aus.

ps Bryants are US I belive
& sometimes the US models are slightly different
