I have just returned home from the Hawkesbury Heights Fire after two days and one night as the Community Liaison Officer, over the time I met and spoke to an awful lot of very nice and supportive people in the local community, also we had many members of the Police in the area and they were fantastic cant praise them too highly for the job they did with us in some very stressful situations. Crews are going to be mopping up for the next few days and we really could not have done the job without the assistance of NSW Fire & Rescue and the out of area RFB units last night there were over 800 people engaged in fighting the fire.
I have attached a couple of photos of the fire on Hawkesbury road on the afternoon of 10/09/13
Taking those amazing photos would have been too close for comfort for me AT... but I'm glad you posted them. Something for bush campers to keep in mind over the spring and summer.
Thank you for all that you and all of the RFS people do aussietraveller.
In my opinion those people who voluntarily put their lives on the line to save us and our homes when theres a fire are Australias finest.
