Like said , if you do nothing wrong then nothing to worry about. Every move we make is on a camera some where whether we know about it or not.
Q, who runs a dash camera? you are recording every vehicle that is on the road infront of you, every pedestrian that crosses in front, people on the sidewalk. If one of those do something wrong to you I bet you are going to use that footage against them, isn't that what you got the camers for? Where's the difference?
JC.
Excellent point JC

You only have to go into a servo or s/ market and you are on camera, so cannot see any difference in what the police are doing.
I recon they need all the help they can get, I would not be a policeman for all the money in the world, every day they put their life on the line to protect you and me from the low life that takes every chance they can to rob/ mug/ rape/ shoot/ stab/ road rage .
It's not all bells and whistles dealing with these type.
I don't know how many people are upset about their data being collected and used for a good purpose by government. Or non-identifying data being collected and used by private companies and individuals. But I can assure all that regardless of data not identifying the particular person, it is very easy and only a few steps to identify the actual person.
The issue isn't that data is being collected but that it is stored confidentially and only used for the original purpose for which it was collected. That also means that the collection of data is made known to those affected and the collection and uses are approved at a suitable level of government, with review and scrutiny by parliament and courts.
Any here who might have worked for global organisations or for government will be reminded of the data mining that can occur, that data is often stored indefinitely and that there are those who are always beavering away on its uses, which can differ markedly with the original published purpose for collecting it.
Once your information was exclusively on paper which strongly limited access, breaches of confidentiality and fraud.
Think I will go turn my phone off and shut down my computer because as a private law abiding person I want to be able to go to the toilet without tracked by electronic means, best check the toilet roll purchased at Coles it may be bugged.
I just noted through my sky cam that you didn't lock your car last night

I agree 100%,now all we have to do is slow down all these caravans that are heavy, to a SAFE speed to the road conditions and it will be a perfect world.I wouldn,t have a coppers job for quids ROD
We just watched four corners which was very much on topic and I discovered its not just the Police recording and storing data there are devices built into traffic lights, bus stops fake trees and garbage bins that are attaching to your mobile phone and recording data from it.
George Orwell the author of 1984 was now where as imaginative as those seeking to control all of us today I found it amazing that Westfield have three stores that are going to start recording and storing data on people so they can determine which are the most visited stores and what people are most interested in.
And my hobbie horse Woolworths and Coles now run loyalty cards so they know what you are having for Breakfast, what your favorite booze is and if you drink to excess and for gray nomads who travel who is away from their home and how far you are away from home because you shop in their stores and purchase their fuel, and we thought it was to give you a discount on fuel, I wonder how secure their data base is certain that thieves would love to have this information.

Happily doing both to the Max.
Life is like a camera, focus on what's important & you will capture it every Time
Like lambs to the slaughter ain't we? "Like said , if you do nothing wrong then nothing to worry about." Wonder if the Jews thought that when told to wear yellow stars in 1942 Germany? We seem to be so ready to cave-in to modern technology saying its for the greater good. Maybe if courts reflected the publics majority opinion and confiscated un-registered cars on 2nd offence and jail time for un-licenced drivers we could have avoided this. The TV show, Persons of interest, reflects our reliance on cameras. More marked police cars on our roads would help more than hidden radar traps.

PS: I designed the first Queensland Police in-car video and sound system "Crime Cam" to be trialed.

No, I'm not busy, I did it right the first time.
Self-powered wheelie walker, soon a power chair (ex. Nomad)
Heres another thing that I realised yesterday on the highway... A car flashed his lights at an oncoming stream of traffic, and for at least the next 20k's we all drove carefully under the speed limit. Never saw a police car with a speed camera, or any other hazard.
So it works, flash your lights and drivers slow down!

I'm at my home in the Philippines at present and missed my favorite show on ABC Monday Night. 4 Corners. However I've just watched it now on my laptop. If you have a high speed connection, watch it NOW... This is seriously about your privacy:
Saw a bit of the NSW story here in Melb and as the police were driving a car went past and the screen informed them that it was a person of interest and not to approach alone as they could be carrying weapons....my thing is if I am doing nothing wrong they can video me all they like as long as it also gets the bad guys.

Fair enough! If that applies, government and companies should not object to prior disclosure of the data they intend to collect and the purpose for which it is being collected. Similarly they should not object to judicial scrutiny.

If Woolies/Coles and other stores can track your habits and identity using loyalty cards etc, couldn't the same be said for when you use your credit cards to pay for purchases at the check out?
