Hi Pete - we had two Terranos - never had a problem getting filters etc - I see you are in Melbourne - look for a Don Kyatt Truck Parts - there is one in Moorabbin that I know of, - I think from memory the filter was one that fitted a Nissan Navara - always got mine from Don Kyatt (I have no connection with that company, just know they give good service). I think you will find that it is a standard Ryco filter anyway - from memory maybe Z56, but not sure, don't have the manual with me, so can't check.
Loved my Terrano - did a heap of travel towing a camper trailer with the first one, then uptraded to a Terrano 11 (1997) - great car to drive, economical, towed well, plenty of grunt, and as a 4wd very capable. As we had a camper trailer, we chose to put a dual battery in the car, under the bonnet - meant we had to move the horn to near the back fire wall - but it all worked out quite well. Still have the Terrano, it is at a friends place in Newcastle, loved my car

Hi,,bought one of these,in very good condition 240K I want to change the trans. fluid but cant find out what filter to use ,other than that there is a plenty of info about vehicle is a 94 2.7L diesel if any one has one of these 4wd or knows what filter is used please let me know via the forum thanks Peter
I think turbopete is talking about the transmission fluid filter - not the engine oil filter. He says: "I want to change the trans. fluid but cant find out what filter to use"
EDIT......Had a look - it's a Ryco RTK49. Site is here:
Your wording indicates that its an auto trans, any worth while auto parts should be able to supply a service kit as you will need the oil pan gasket as well. If you are going this far may as well check if there is any adjustments of brake bands & servo piston clearance adjustment.
If you are not up to this then should get it done at a service centre , as some adjustments are internal. Havent touched one of these boxes so cann't quote you on it.

Thanks for all the replies I am certain the filter is an RTK49 and the trans is E 4R01A ,,the trans fluid is a good ruby colour and seems to change with no probs, so don't think I need a trans. specialist to service it and charge me a cuppla hundred $$ to do it,,,,, again thanks for the help

If you really don't need a specialist then that's good. I know those replies are useful enough for you.
Hi Jules,,, No is a 94 Terrano 1 ,,i gather there is a difference in the engine between the 1 and 2 ,don't know if any difference in the transmission ,,,,,,had the A/C charged yesterday but
Still have a problem with the heater/cool/ flap diverter solenoid which I think is controlled by the slider on the dash front ,,, ,currently have disconnected the solenoid linkage and moved the linkage
( right) manually to cool or (left) for heat ,,,will get the tester light out today and see what is occurring,,,, at this point I am assuming that the solenoid is the heater water controller Peter
May have a manual on this - in Melbourne, but won't be there for a while - will ask my son to have a look for me. I also had the Terrano I - it is the import?

Yes is the import,, I had a chat to my auto elec,,he said unlikely the solenoid, more likely the a/c control panel which cant be repaired,,so have rigged up a hard wire system to move the flap as
required and that will work for the time being Would appreciate to see your manual when available many thanks to all who helped Peter
Hi Friends Cross member needs to be removed to drop transmission pan, problem is one of the nuts is rounded so will try to get nut loose with an impact socket, if not will have to cut off,,Dammmmmmmmmm Peter
