Hi Mick and AM ,my suzuki is insured by AAMI,whether being towed on a trailer or driven on the road,I did ask the question. The trailer I tow is covered by the motorhome insurance whilst it is coupled to the motorhome only.It may pay to ring your insurance companies and ask the hard questions,.I would assume that the your suzuki would be covered by the insurance company whether it is being towed or driven by you,but with insurance companies we should not assume. Perhaps we should all check with our insurance companies and get it right,it's too late after an accident.. cheers Peter.

SOME POLITICIANS AND BABIES NAPPIES SHOULD BE CHANGED OFTEN FOR THE SAME REASON.
In the process of updating accessories with Allianz I was informed that my Suzuki that is comprehensively insured by Allianz is only insured when being towed by a towing company. The implication of this is that it is not insured when towed behind my motorhome. I have the Motorhome insured by Ken Tame and I think they will cover the vehicle behing towed but who do other flat towers have to insure their towed car. Ironically Ken Tame is also underwritten by Allianz.
Flat towing is legal as long as the reqs are complied with. We tow a Suzuki which is approved for flat towing by the manufacturer. We use a commercial A frame and have brakes fitted including a breakaway device.
My confusion would be is it covered by my Motorhome insurance or the Suzuki's insurance?
I would also think that if you are transporting a car by any means that is legal in the state its registered unless your policy specifically excludes it I doubt (in my humble opinion) they would be able to refuse a claim.
cheers

I would call Ken Tame and ask as there are plenty of vehicles being towed behind motorhomes and I bet insured through Ken Tame. Would they all be uninsured?

It maybe you need to show who was in control of the vehicle at the time of the accident . Another point is what if it breaks away and damages your own vehicle as well as another. It will all boil down to who was in control of the vehicle at fault. Tricky. Different to a trailer as it is not classed as a motor vehicle as the Sussie is
