I thought I'd better check in. I've been home for a bit more than a week after 2 months on the road.
Five days of that time was spent at the Border Village "Resort", waiting for a load going to the Adelaide Hills.
The roadhouses look after us transport workers, so we buy meals and few drinks to reciprocate. The $2 10 minute shower is worth every cent. A bit squeazy but clean, steady flow and constant temperature. Ooooh, sooooo good!
There was no chance of anyone pinching my van. It was secured by a mass of spider webs.
I had to clean up Rosy in preparation for her sale. She scrubbed up pretty good for a hard-working Landcruiser that's done 468000 kms.
I'm going to miss her.
However there wasn't a morning when I didn't thank my lucky stars I have Betty Benz. I don't regret the camping out, but I am happy with the upgrade.
Now I'm getting my back sorted and a couple of other things, but gardening the little patch is out until the weather fines up.

Great to hear from you CG. I saw a lot of wideloads on my way north. Kept a look out for you.. Glad you've had a good run of work. Why so many spider webs, that's got me intrigued. Where were the spiders?
Hey CG - good to hear you are safe and well. You will sure miss Rosey though!!!!
We are at Lake Hart up the Stuart, for a few nights - this time last we with you at Nindigully Pub!!! Heading to Port Augusta probably Monday, then over to a place called Pildappa Rock (I think that's it) - then back towards the Murray via Renmark, etc.

When I bought Betty early June she had 47000 kms on the clock. She now has 71000 kms on the dial. From Adelaide to Border Village, to Mackay, to Biloela, to Kingaroy and Biloela again, then Gladstone, back to Mackay, a couple of trips up to the Central Highland coal fields and return to Mackay. I did a day's work moving rail lines around Mackay, and then worked my way down to Duaringa to Chinchilla, then Brissy to Collie.
I caught up with John and Lorraine, "Dunmowin'" in Bunbury, and some elderly friends of mine who were my neighbours in Broome every year for about 8 years, on the same site for 3 or 4 months. I had a couple of minor jobs done on the bus.
Then it was up to Perth to catch up with friends, have a few more jobs done (maintenance) and meet some of the committee of the National Pilot Vehicle Drivers Association of which I am now the Publicity Officer, some times Media Liaison and Public Relations.
I've also had a win with the CB monster in Adelaide who not only insults the ears and intelligence of anyone unfortunate enough to hear his ramblings and rantings on channel 40, but names people he believes are pedophiles. Even me.
He's been charged with 5 federal offences.
I started the campaign to get rid of him when I arrived in Adelaide in October 2010. I couldn't believe anyone would abuse the radio to this degree for hours on end, day after day. With the help of Channel 7 News and Today Tonight, we got him, and ACMA has acted.
