Travelling advice required

Hi All,

We are ready to take our first trip from North West VIC to WA and thought I would ask members for any info we may need to know about eg, places not to camp at, roads not to take the big banger on etc.

We intend to go via mildura, renmark, port pirie, port augusta, then down to esperance then up through kojonup to perth.

All info would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

John and Kaz

I cannot see any where going from your description of the roads you are going to be travelling where your bus wouldn't be able to go if your keeping on the black top.

The only problem you may face is getting into some of the caravan parks around our great country,as a lot of them were built back when cob and co were around and have not updated their sites to allow big rigs to fit into.

But in saying that you may only be free/low cost camping so in that cases it won't be asw much as a problem.

You also do not say if you are towing any thing behind you..if you are best to unhitch before you pull into a caravan park as that also can be a pain in the butt.

MY van and 4x4be would almost be the length of your beast and I have to ring first before I pull into a van park to make sure I can fit in,as on a few occasions I  have had to park the van on the site and they make me park the 4x4be in another spot (where the visitors park in most cases ) Also I try to fill up with fuel at the road houses that are designed for the trucks to fill up,as that makes life easier also pulling in and out.

All the best and most of all just enjoy.

Big Banger... I like that! But don't get ahead of yourself John and Kaz. The GN forum ain't going anywhere so just keep in touch along the way and get the latest info as you travel. I'm sure you'll have a ball!

can't see any probs with the roads John . I have delivered long-wide loads to Augusta , near Cape Leeuwin .

Then up to Bunbury to fuel , then back over to & through Kojonup . As already stated , you might have th odd

problem with length & turns in some parks . Old Inter was 22' & if I was 'a-framing', some thunk t might 'rip-in'

on corners , one bloke could not believe I when I could reverse it & not 'rip-up' his grass . Just be prepared to go

around low bridges & weight limits near some towns . Some rangers are worse than scalies.

Richo.
