My apologies

My apologies for not properly introducing myself. So I don't blame people for wonder who I am.

Thought I had so can I blame that on old age/mental lapse?

I try to sort out that profile thing later.

Yes very grey and retired on the official next to nothing income as well.

Anyway,I have had my van for about a year and so far. I have only managed to make a short trip to Quorn Easter this year, 2013.

I was going to Vic last year but that canme to grinding halt when my father ended up in hospital and someone had to look after mother. They are getting on in years.

Any way the van: Desert Sky Nomad.

If you want to know what is inside the basic model here:

http://desertsky.com.au/caravans/desert-nomad/

and

http://www.redsherpa.com.au/index.php/2012-10-09-08-50-34/nomad

They are pics of my van before the additional bits.

Actually its the only one built.

I have added a few extras to the van but nothing flash nor any great mods. Just some basics. small microwave, full sine wave inverter, get water tank, and the microwave is wired for 240 via to side source and also from the inverter, for the short 5 min use stuff.

The tug is a 2005 Nissan Patrol ZD30Di manual. I have no idea about driving automatics, all to confusing.

Also did a few little mods to the Patrol. EGR block, Dawes valve, bigger intercooler with fan, catch can, snorkel and upgrades to springs and shockers. Also added a pure sine wave inverter in the cab to run the laptop, iPad, and camera charger if needed.

Had a few minor hiccups with the van so I have not done much yet. Bit annoying, but lie goes on.

Anyway I sort of run solo as there is only me, myself and I; but we get on ok.

Cheers

Nick

Welcome from me Nick, enjoy here and out in the playground. I am a solo too but do most of my posting here in 'General'.

Well, I had company traveling with me up until about 4 months ago when I ditched Me and Myself over in Central Queensland, somewhere near Winton I think for memory. Now, I really feel for you mate as you must have found them, took pitty on them and took them in. Bad move and I tell you that for free.

As for you rig, very nice, the three of you should be very comfortable in that. If I were you, I would make those other two sleep outside under the awning.

Welcome from me too Nick. I grew up in SA but now call Qld home. Too cold and dry in SA, but that's all the more reason to hit the roadsmile. There's lots of us that travel solo but that doesn't mean you have to be alone all the time. Always plenty of other travellers if you want company. Hope things get sorted for you soon so you can take that van out to play.

Hey Doug, was that those poor lost souls I saw hitch-hiking the other day?  Looking in my mirror at their expressions I don't think they enjoyed my dust as I cruised on bybiggrinbiggrin

Dog lady..........I don't think it would have been the same two pests as Nick has them now :))

GD.......I decided that now I am retired and used to it there is no need for committee meetings so out they went. I make the decisions now.

Sorry Nick, Dog Lady and GD hijacked your post a little but I didn't tell you that. If they ask who told you just tell them Wombat did, they will understand then.

Hey Doug, where is wombat anyway? Is he OK? Doesn't seem fair to pick on him when he hasn't joined the party for over a monthhmm

Thanks for the welcome.
I suppose my name does give the hometown away.

After Doug's comments re his past companions, I have had a talk with Me and Myself. It was a rather expensive phone call as I am in Adelaide waiting for the van repairs to be finished and they we back home. They didn't see the point in coming on this little boring trip. Expensive phone call anyway.
Interesting outcome.
Me has agreed that he will stay at home and do the wood turning that needs to be done. I do a bit of woodwork and lathe turning. Myself decided that he would keep Me company and sort out the housework while I was away.
Somehow I don't believe either. I am just hoping they my find someone else to pester, too much work for them to do unsupervised.

One day I might finally manage to got away.
