kumbia rest up .

Another interesting 24 hours and beautiful weather. Had 2 vans of French backpackers parked beside me last. They have just arrived back after a day working on a farm behind Kumbia. They missed out on the same spot as the park started filling up about 2.30pm. Now packed. Doubt any more can fit in.

Had a delightful sleep last night. Might have been from the sweet smell coming from the backpackers vans. Not sure, not having smelt that certain smell before. lol

Kumbia is slowly becoming a ghost town. Only the pub, service station and butcher left standing.

The gift shop isclosed and the cafe is also closed due to health reasons.

Happywanderer good evening.

We stay there back last long weekend and we arrived at Kumbia mid afternoon the area near the toilets was full, a camper come over to our car & caravan asked were we looking for some where to spend the night.

He goes on to explain there is room up behind in an over flow area near the water tower.

What we liked better, down behind the police station on about 10 acres of mowed grass, bbque. Another over flow area and peace and quite top spot, would stay there again on our travels.

Radar Are you sure youve got the same town. Haven't heard of any overflow areas. At least 6 or 7 maybe more nomads came in late yesterday, this place was chocker full. They moved on as no where for them here.
I've even got a motorhome parked next to me, half out of the grounds as no where else.
We are right opp the police station. In our walks haven't seen on behind there.

Happywanderer good morning.

The park where your at is opposite the police station on the main road though Kumbia. The side street that runs up along side the park, look east and there is a water tower, not a big water tower. There is a small amount of land there that you can use maybe 4 caravans without crowding each other. Short walk to the toilets.

Now the other look west down beside the police station to the end of the street (maybe 200 meters) turn right and your left, that parcel of mowed land is public reserve and is regarded as an over flow area for overnight stops.

When we were there last time the Gift Shop was due to close, we brought some gifts for friends there, opposite where we camped for the night near the tennis court was a family transport business that I loaded out of back in the mid 80's now closed, the sheds are still there.

There is also camping at Stuart Creek on the way into Kingaroy which we did not like, highway noise and there was lots of caravans with dogs attach to them.

Friends from my transport days own the Hotel in Bell, from past experience when they owned another at Mulgowie the food they served was to die for.

Hope this helps. Ralph.

Well I never knew and I lot of others don't either. Been stopping here up and down ony trips since I got the van. I understand perfectly where you are talking about. Looking at the tennis courts now.
Will make to pass that on to other travellers who come in here.
