Hi everyone I have just finished reading on previous blogs about were to stay prior to catching the Spirit. Some recommend a car park Beacon Cove. Just wanting to know if that's the carpark near the Sandridge Surf Life saving Club?
Just before the Surf Life Saving Club just park on the left hand side of the road on the Boulevarde. The Car Park attached to the Life Saving Club is private property belonging to the Club.

No, I don't know that one. But if you continue along the Boulevarde past the high rise and Life Saving Club, and turn left at the first set of lights, forgot the street name, it goes down to an industrial area. I've parked there many times.

The night time crossing is probably a lot easier re the parking problems, as the night crossing you can time your arrival at the dock about one and a half hrs before departure.
The is ZERO parking in the immediate vicinity of the wharf.
The actual siting of the wharf leaves quite a lot to be desired.
A relocation to some where near the heads could be a WIN WIN for TT and it's costomers and make for a much faster transit .
If you are going to be staying in caravan park over night before you depart try to find about boom gates as you could lose your key card deposit as the office not be open when you leave.
The park we have used as they cater for people heading to Tassie is Ashley Gardens in Braybrook.

Thanks for the info guys, we are looking at the 26th or 27th January departure. As this will be a public holiday on both Sunday and Monday we are hoping that traffic will be a bit lighter.
Also copper1, we have found you are best not to aim to be there at the very beginning of boarding. Don't be last but go towards the end. The last on usually is the first off! Plus you have less trouble queuing.
Thanks neilnruth trying to sort out were to camp the night prior to departure the Boulevard seems to be the place, the caravan park at Braybrook want $54 for the night and I can't see the value for 10hrs. Currently google mapping for spots near the Boulevard as other blogs have mentioned that you can stay there.
There is another area you can park. It may not be suitable for a car and caravan, although I've parked there overnight in my MH. The Esplanade along from the Pier is named Beach Street and meters operate 24/7 at $4.00 an hour. If you go back along Beach Street about 1 km, until you come to Beach Hotel on your left. Right opposite the Hotel, check out the Parking signs. Meters operate from 8.00 a.m. until 6.00 p.m. meaning you can park there overnight. Only problem is the heavy traffic early evening and again early morning. This area will suit a small MH but I think with a larger rig you'll be more comfortable at the Boulevarde.

Thanks BG, the Boulevarde will likely be the Go or just around the corner. I googled mapped the area and there is another car park. Or a bit further on and left at the lights there is an industrial area.
