For those of you that were following my weekly updates over the last few months, you might remember I was having trouble with my Digital SLR.
Well I cleaned the mirror and view finder but when I was about to clean the sensor I noticed what looked like a scratch so put the cover back on and recharged the battery again.
When the battery was fully charged I then proceeded with having a good look with a magnifying glass under a better light and sure enough there was this scratch, not sure how it could have got there as I am very careful with my camera, bugger. I checked with Canon and they could replace the sensor but it is quite an expensive job so decided to look into a new camera. The camera is one of the first Digital SLR's to hit the market so had a few years under it's belt, well Lens.
I spent a week doing homework and comparing a few different Canon SLR's as I already have a selection on Canon lenses. Today while in the 'Big Smoke' I lashed out and bought myself a new Canon 7D SLR Camera Body. Let the games begin.
I also checked out a couple of accessaries to go with it but a bit exe so had a look on eBay and found them on there a lot cheaper and saying New, Genuine Canon Accessaries, so I think I will buy them that way.
Bread and dripping for a few meals now.

At least you got some good use out of the old Canon before the problem arose. That's something. Take good care of the newie! I feel the same way about my Nikon... I treat it like a baby. I also have a few spares... a couple of older Fujis.
I have to get a pic in there right first John or Lorraine. I also have to get used to the camera too, lots of bells and whistles, good fun though. Maybe a couple could find there way into 'Sharing Photo's'.
Edit........Ooops, got name of thread wrong.

You cant spend too much on a good camera. They are one of the most essential travel things. We love ours and take mountains of pics so when i get ancient ill be able to look at them and remember where ive been.

Have you noticed how many times people whose houses have been destroyed by fire mention photographs as being one of the first things they try to save?
My photos were in albums packed in an ammo box when all my worldly possessions went up in smoke, and I'm very happy to say that the majority survived. Since then i've been scanning all the pre-digital ones and giving family members copies just in case. I don't really know why they are so important, just know they are!

Onya Doug, great camera, had one for years, gave it to the better half, so I can still use it, and upgraded to 5D mark III Got all my stuff from DWI http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/astore/Default.aspx good service and safe [always use paypal if you can]. saved a package over the years!! I have set up the C1,2,3 for sport/wild life, landscape and Flowers and use it all the time rather than Manual. Apart from sport, I always bracket my shots [over exposed, slightly under exposed and one stop under exposed, since it is easier to fix under exposed photos and Canon tend to over expose by nature]
If you need any help let me know
