My first 'viewing' was Burgess Park on Christmas Creek Road, Lamington, which is 20kms from Beaudesert. It looks more like a day rest area than an overnighter, but it's beside the creek, there's toilets, BBQs, and fire pits.
We then continued on Christmas Creek Road to Stinson Park. We liked this one better. New toilets, BBQs, fire pits and close to the creek. There are designated sites here, but they're pretty generous. A school group was landing that day, with most of the camps re3served, so I'd say you'd need to ring first to be sure there are no schools camped there.
Back onto Mt Lindsey Highway, then turning off onto Running Creek Road or Lions Road, as it's also called. The upkeep on this road is done by the Lions Club, so there's a donation bin at the border. First stop, Andrew Drynan Park. Quite a big area, toilets, BBQs and fire pits. There's a decent sized waterhole in the creek here if you want to swim. But be warned, it's very popular in the Summer. Ring first.
We continued on, and I'd planned to check out Sheepstation Creek Campground, but we missed the sign, if there was one, because the next thing we were at the T junction of Summerland Way. So that will have to be a reccy for another day.
We then headed to the small town of Woodenbong to check out the Campground there. This camp is alongside the creek near the football field and pool. There are hot showers, toilets, a grey water dump point and a really beaut Camp Kitchen. At $10 for a powered site, I reckon this one's a bargain. It could be a good base point to visit national Parks, waterfalls etc in the area.
We then headed back towards Rathdowney, where we took a detour to check out Bigriggin Park. This is a lovely looking place where we plan on going next weekend. This is a private property with a chain gate, so you need to go to the office first. There's a huge grassed area with plenty of shade, fire pits, BBQs, drinking water, showers, toilets, and fire pits. This is again set beside a lovely creek. Oh and they have a kiosk too.
Not far from there is Flanagan Reserve Bush Camping which is always very popular, so I'm told. This camp has all the same facilities as Bigriggin but it's not as green and it's higher up on the hill. They were burning off nearby so now might not be the right time to visit, particularly for we Asthmatics. The friend who was with me had stayed at Flanagans a few times and was happy with it.
It was a very long day..389km round trip...and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but the we were running out of light, and I was getting tired so we left it at that. There's lots of other camps in this general area that I want to check out too. This area is really my backyard, where I've done day trips with family etc ever since I can remember, but I've never actually camped at anywhere in the Scenic Rim.
I won't put these in Recommendations until I've actually stayed there, but so far they're looking good for a few days R&R locally.
PS sorry I don't have more photos, but you'll see more when you look up these web sites.

Beth - Darlington Park is pretty good - think it is $7 head - heaps of room - think you have been there, though. Kalbar Showgrounds is $13 adult with power, and Boonah Showground is $8 without power - both good spots - then you have "The Gorge" at Lake Moogerah - great spot, and cheap (not sure how much now).
Even though not there any more, still a fan of the beautiful Scenic Rim!!!

I thought you'd pick up on this thread pretty quick Jules.
Yes, Darlington Park is also a favourite of my family too. Do you know of Camp Lake Fire on Lake Maroon? We were going to check it out too, but ran out of light.
Haven't heard any feedback on it - but think it is privately run (and could be pricy I think). There is also the CP at Lake Moogerah itself, right on the water.

I was the assistant Ranger there 2008-2010, when I retired. Easter and Xmas is the busiest time. They even have to get portable toilets in and I hope Council has fixed the water pump by now.

No, I'm not busy, I did it right the first time.
Self-powered wheelie walker, soon a power chair (ex. Nomad)
I suspected as much goldcoaster. Darlington Park is the same. Maybe they're just a bit too close and convenient to civilisation. I only go camping at Easter if I can get right away. Next Easter I'm heading west.
These places will be nice for the odd few days out of holiday time.
Edit...sorry, not goldcoaster, Ontos45.

Relaxing this morning and read your post, We have stopped overnight at Burgess Park for us living on the north side of Brisbane real handy, at the present we can only slip away overnight and leave mid morning and return next day mid afternoon, it is clean, mostly quite, have been there when there has been about twenty campers and been there when only us.
Sheep station Creek you would of needed to turn to your left into the forest travelling from Brisbane.
Most of the parks at Easter are very busy and last Easter we did a shake down run up to Tooowoomba to overnight stop at Nobby then down to Warwick checking possible weekend trips from there to Kyogle for 2 nights in the Showground, did do a couple of day trips out into the forest and there was more still to see. Got a big star, basic toilet and showers, clean and mowed grass. Nice weekend even if it did rain.
Have stayed at Darlington Park a few times found it busy of a weekend and there is a lot of though traffic noise on the Kerry Road.
Hope this note is of help.
