The Delay Is almost Over

Yay!!! We were supposed to leave on our trip some time ago, but the passing of both our mothers

within 4 months of each other, followed by my hospital visits culminating in the removal of the gall bladder

sort of delayed us somewhat. Now we are going,(well in 2 days time).Heading for Maryborough VIC

for Family Reunion, then heading north, through Bendigo, Echuca, Deniliquin. We will eventually end up in Rockhampton

to visit with Son and his family, then with them, spend the last week of the school holidays in Brisbane, visiting friends.

We will wend our way homewards after leaving Brisbane.

We have no definite stopping points between Deniliquin and Rockhampton, just meandering along. Burren Junction is on our bucket list,

We are not set up for a lot of free camping, but we can do some using a gennie for power if necessary.

We'd welcome ideas of any spots along the way that GN's have found interesting and what the various roads are like.

Apologies, this post is a bit like our trip, wandering all over the place, and not making a whole lot of sense.

(The wandering is to avoid all the wombat holes.)smile

All suggestions gratefully received.

Kevin

Yes, we have looked at this one. Like the fact of having a river nearby.

Thanks

Kevin

You will have a great time out there Peterpan, there is so much to see. Queensland roads have a lot of roadworks happening so you need to be patient whilst driving. If you have Wikicamps or Camps Australia Wide book you will find heaps of camps to suit you. I love Burren Junction, We will be calling in there on our way home. Take care.

Cheers

Thanks Val & Rob,

We have the camps bible, and downloaded the latest additions.

Were thinking of going from Deniliquin to Finley then following the Newell to Narrabri

then off to Burren Junction. After that who knows.

Peter Pan, don't know if you have been to Deniliquin or not, if not plan to spend some time there. Spent an afternoon there a couple of months ago and cannot wait to get back there. Very impressed with the history of the area and the town is so clean and pretty. Worth the stop and exploring. IMHO.

Thanks Shekon,

We haven't been to this area before, so everything will be an adventure

and new experience.  We intend to have fun and enjoy whatever comes.

Kevin.

PS. Were  coming through Echuca on Monday, what's the parking like for

stopping with a van? We will be back later in the year, but want to have

a look around before that 10 day visit.

Always find with most places if you want to have a look around you have to be prepared to do a bit of walking , Caravan parking is not always available in the centre of town but have found if you like to walk it's ok

I think there is room to park your caravan near Echuca Tourist Info. From there its only a couple of blocks walk to the main street in one direction or the historic area the other.

 Thanks Pam,

Walking is supposed to be beneficial to my health. Much prefer chocolate though.

 Hi Villatranquilla,

We stayed at the same CP Sat and Sun. Met a great couple Freehuzzars ie Paul and Kerri, they reckon in a couple of weeks their new home will be ready to

occupy.Their new tow vehicle is great, I want front seats like theirs, bliss.  The wife lived out at Adelaide Lead, which no longer exists except for the School. Yes we found everyone very friendly.

Regards

Kevin
