Had a similar problem not long after I got my Vast box. Didn't have any problems finding the satellite, but I found any slight movement with the dish, and I would loose the signal. Another camper suggested that I get my cable checked so I took the cable to a local TV / Antenna store in Geelong and he advised me to change the cable.

He supplied me with 20 mtrs of RG6 Quadshield 75 Ohm Coaxial Cable. Went back to the van, did the set up and everything was perfect.

Regards Alan

P.s. my original cable was supplied by iTech, but I don't have it any more so unable to provide details of what type it was, however the new cable is almost twice as thick as the old one.

Cute Dog! yes Alan think I will also be changing my cable.

G'day, I have not read all the posts, but have you got the LNB suitable for the Vast box. Cost me $37 for the new one. Bought it with the box and have had no troubles.

Looking at all your posts, your equipment seems to be fine. So the odds are that you are looking at the wrong satellite. You are probably looking at B3 which I found to have a stronger signal than C1. C1 is 1 degree lower and 10 degrees to the right. Or you could be on PAS8 in which case you have to move up 2 and move 20 to the left. Your direction should be ±30east of due north. Your elevation should be ±65 and your LNB should be on -15. If you have an superduper sat finder coming which can tell what sat you are on, you should be home and hosed. Please note that trees and palms will interfere with the signal as well, most signals come in at ±45  to the angle of the dish, that is if your dish is up right at 90 then the signal will come in at 45 some people think that the dish is actually looking at the sat which is not the case the signal bounces at an angel off the dish onto the LNB

Thanks for that Basil, I got my super-duper sat finder yesterday and yes I was spot on the satellite, I was standing next to my dish watching FTA programmes on my finder, WOW!

But nothing on my set box yet, maybe the cable is not good after all, will have to wait till my new cable gets here.

If you have one of those digi-madoos where you can see the prorgams than you maybe able to connect it via the USB cable to your computer or TV and watch it that way

Well I would like to thank AL-H, Alan and all those others that tried to help me with my problem, reading my post you would see the dilemma I was in, meter tests every thing ok, new plugs on cable, multi meter said all ok, box was fixed, Dish was ok, it all ended up as Ai and Alan said , A NEW CABLE fixed it all would you believe and now very happy, even after the old cable working on my TV but AL-H had that covered.

Thanks again
