A few years back I worked for RAC-WA Batteries, replacing several batteries every day.

The standout batteries were Bosch Gold series (not sure if they are still made) and the good old Century blue & yellow N70ZZ.

The last two I had in my old Hilux diesel lasted 5 years  4 months, and just over 6 years. They were mounted under the rear tray, so had no under-bonnet temperatures to cope with, which makes a difference.

I have one in my 80 series land cruiser now, and will be disappointed if it doesn't last close to 5 years. Diesel engined cruisers have lower under-bonnet temps (non turbo) than petrol powered, which also helps.

Back when I was involved, there were only two Australian manufacturers, GNB and Century. GNB were way below Century in reliability. THe Bosch Gold was made in Germany, but that will have changed for sure by now.

Not sure who makes what these days, but I have a "Made In the Philippines" battery in my tractor, which has been there for 4 years, and is still working just fine, despite being left unused for months at a time, and once being let go dead flat for an unknown time, which generally speaking is a death sentence for a battery. I have put a solar trickle charger on it most of the time for the last 18 months though. 

When I bought it, the guy said it would probably last 2 years maximum in a tractor, but not worth putting in an expensive one because it probably wouldn't do much better for the doubled price. (it cost $80) so there are exceptions. I must have got good one

If you are running only 1 battery, then it would be worth going for quality. If you run two (as I do) then the second one can be a cheapie because you are not depending on it fully.
