How quick a good set out plans can get thrown out the window, for no good reason other than you just change it.( if that makes sense )
We were going to start heading to Karumba,to do some serious fishing, but with the family weeding in two weeks back in Mission Beach, We had a round camp fire deep and meaningful discussion over a few wines brought from one of the beaut wineries in Mareeba and have decided to hang around this area until after the wedding. ( We are camped up at present at brothers fruit orchard )..So will just do day or over night trips from here.As the three kids and their partners fly into Cairns next Thursday to attend the wedding. The wife is all excited about us being together again as a family for a week, some thing we haven't had the pleasure of doing in almost three years. With us all scattered over the country.it is a mammoth job organising us all to be in the one place at the same time...It is sad to think that for us all to put our self out to catch up as a whole family it is for a wedding or a funeral...We see each other but on most occasions not all at the same time. Wondering if this only happens in our family this wedding or funeral get together....

In our family of late the most memorable get together's have been at respective parents funerals, Uncle and Aunties, we went about 6 years without a wedding for a happy event. The cousins that come out of the wood work was amazing reminding us of the great times we had growing up together or those stay overs at cousins homes certainly help us though the times of sadness.
Answer to your question in one way or another it's fairly well the same.
Enjoy the wedding, the get together will be talked about for long time.
We had our first family get together in 5 years two weeks ago. We get to see all our 4 kids and their families but rarely are they home at the same time. Our 4 kids all do FIFO and it is very rare that their shifts overlap so they are all at home at once. So make the most of your changed plans and enjoy the time with your family.
