I was asking myself the same question. It looks like I will end up with a drop down bed in the back. Comes down electrically. On day you drive it up and use the lounge and for the night it comes down. Far not as high as the bed over the cab.
Will use that as storage for push bike and fishing gear.
Hi, i asked avery similar question a while ago, we got all sorts of responses, we decided it comes down to your owwn abilities and preference.
we decided to get a bed over cab, six berth, the bed over cab will probably be used for storage, and sleeping for visiting grandkids, we will use the rear area for sleeping, possibly wwith some modifications.
this decision was mainly because of mobility, although we could probably climb up and down now, we dont know ow long for.
thanks guys, , the drop down beds seem to be a popular thing now,
like with slide out lounges and rooms but wonder if anything goes wrong can they
all be moved manually??

Don't know, but you could send an email or make a phone call to Sunliner for example and ask them. They have these things
I also have both in the Avan Ovation.. the front being used primarily as a storage area but being a full 7ft long of queen size, (same as the rear) it has sheltered a sleeper when necessary .. accessed by a small ladder of course ..
At the rear, I have an electrically operated bed which can be raised or lowered depending on the height wanted in a large storage area (underneath) which spans the full width of the vehicle with access doors on both sides. It stays now at an established height that I find a happy medium and gives me a ready-made bed to have a POPPA-NAP in when feeling so inclined .. it doesn't double as a daytime lounge .. permanent seating for 3 at any time is available up the front at a fixed table or for 5 when front bucket seats can fully rotated ..
There are two easy steps to enable me to access the bed at rear .. and I also have three large windows giving me fresh air and views to both sides and the rear ..
The drop down bed is a great space saver but it has a major drawback for me. When we had our camper trailer whoever was sleeping on the inside had to crawl over the other person to get out. This is the same configuration as the drop down bed which is why we got the permanent island bed with front lounge when we got our motorhome. If they added another 300 mm to the width of the bed you could sleep lengthways and prevent the drawback I previously mentioned.
