South Johnson Camp Ground.

Free camping tonight at South Johnson Camping Ground to night. This would be on the top of the list of come again to camp free camp sites.

It is set in an old forestry camp with excellent facilities.

Picnic shelters/toilets set on the banks of the South Johnson River.

This area is near the Wooroonoora National Park.QLD.

There is a few other camping areas inside the park which attracts camping fees.

The area has terrific walks to water falls and this area is classified as one of the oldest continually serving rainforests on earth.

There is signs saying safe to swim but UM no thanks, believed those signs once before and could have got eaten.

The one stop shop in the little town is the original store built back in 1939 and still going strong.

No running all over town to purchase your supplies here as it caters for groceries/fuel/gas/hard wear//plumbing/gardening/electricial/clothing/ATM.EFpos.

We visited the Mungalli Biodynamic Dairy this arvo and watched while they made yummy natural yoghurt and cheeses

Also enjoyed a cuppa at their Out Of The Way Tea House Café.

We may even stay another night and do one of the walks, but me and water falls are miles apart as I have seen so many to me they all look the same...and really to see a water fall in all it's glory it is best to visit them in the wet season.

This free camp is a hidden treasure,we are the only people here to night.

If, like me, you had no idea from the post above where South Johnson Campground was - this will help from Mr Google.

Sounds like a great spot ... would a caravan fit? and if so, how big a van?

Cheers - John

You'd probably be safe up there herbie.  Haven't heard of Crocs. going up the range yet.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin   Ask the Locals to be sure.

I'm putting that one on my list.  Just Googled it, and it looks beautiful.

Cheers,

Sheba.

The sign posted regarding safe to swim also mentions no box jelly fish also.???

Would not be able to fit lge rigs into this camp also would be tight negotiating the road/ track into it.
