Hi everybody!

Welcome and what a coincidence, my son-in-law is English, my daughter is Australian (and her name is Erin!). This is a great forum for information and advice based

on experience and research. Enjoy! Cheers JulieM

We are Dave and Erin. Erin is Australian and Dave is English. We will be moving to Australia come next year and intend on buying a camper van and travelling around for quite some time. I have heard this is the place to find lots of information so I will enjoy reading through all the old threads and putting together some travel plans with the information I can find. We have already been to Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Cairns a few years ago. Now it is time to visit all the places in between :)

Anyway I mainly just wanted to say hello, we feel like slight frauds as we aren't exactly "grey" nomads, but nomads nevertheless. For the last year we have been country-hopping every month and it will be nice to stay in the same country for a while. We hired a campervan a couple of years ago for 10 days and absolutely loved it so we can't wait to buy one now and join in the fun!

Welcome and perhaps I can make a small suggestion to start of the information. You don't say whether you're looking to buy your campervan new or used but, assuming that used is acceptable, a good place to start looking is the cmca website www.cmca.net.au/pages/members_market/index.php. You don't have to be a member to use the sales bit even though it's called 'members market'. I hope you find it helpful.

Welcome Dave and Erin, you don't have to have an RV to be a member here, just a genuine interest in the lifestyle and in your case you have already been "blooded" (have already had some experience).

Hope you get here soon and once settled in have a good look around the market for a good campervan.

What state will you be settling in?

Here is one place that sells new or used campervans in the Sydney suburbs, also have agents in some other states;

Here's another on the West Coast (Perth suburbs);

Hey, thanks for the warm welcome everybody! Sorry i didn't reply sooner. Thanks for the info on the camper vans also, we aren't really bothered if it is new or second hand. The main thing would be being able to eventually sell it and not lose too much money. We're not really too keen on owning things. Everything we own currently weighs 30kg and fits into two bags, it will be rather strange soon owning something so large. We aren't sure where we are going to go, Sydney to start with to see some friends and then either north or south. It will be towards the end of the year now, so more likely south :)
