G'Day, we've been in the market for a PVR - preferably a Panasonic. Anyway, we've checked all the local places out and cheapest we could get it for was $484 at HN. Then I checked online - googled PVR and then picked one to look at and when the link was displayed, down in the corner was an advert by "AdChoice" with a HN banner and 5 different PVR's at very cheap prices - the one I wanted was shown as $390 and the rest were 25% less than the catalogue "on sale" prices. So I clicked on "buy" and lo and behold the price went up to $484. Tried it again and same thing on all the featured adverts. So then I thought I'd better tell them about it because it's misleading apart from being illegal. Posted an online query to HN and then an "online consultant" appeared on the screen and I started talking via the keyboard to her. She could not find the price I said the item was available for and after much back and fro she said she'd check "further up" and get back to me. Meanwhile I copied all the links and screen printed them just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
This morning I got a call from the manager at HN electrical querying my online comment/complaint....didn't really seem to believe me but then all of a sudden said - no problems, we'll sell you one at that price. I went back online and they were still there and they still are there at least when I link to them.
So it was good of HN to honour the advert - their advert company needs a kick however. Haven't heard back from the online consultant however, from her name she was in Egypt, got my name wrong twice (called me Daniel and danis). Bring back Australian call centres although at one stage she called me "dearie" so maybe she is based in England.
Bottom line is - keep you eye on adverts by AdChoice.
Gary is correct. I should not use acronyms as I also complain!! It's not just Personal Video Recorders that were cheap.....just that I zeroed in on them.
These TV's do not have a hard drive but will record to a thumb drive or an SD card so you would need to purchase one.
I have a 32 Gig thumb drive and find it has enough space for around 32 hrs standard definition recording but will fill real quickly when it is High Definition.
Quite usefull when one has happy hour or goes out and wants to record ones favourite program.
