Was only talking to an older gentleman this arvo while fishing and was wondering why he was shouting when he spoke,
after some more shouting back & forth he mentioned he was very hard at hearing and he would not even hear his fire alarm if it went off in his motor home while he was sleeping.
If i was in that situation i do not think i would want to travel if i could not hear my only safety net.
A bit on TV tonight said he was living in the caravan on a property, his Jack Russell also perished, probably couldn't get out or wake the old bloke. Nothing was said about possible causes that I have heard.
There is a baby alarm you can get Milo that flashes a light if the baby cries, a remote speaker is put near the baby (or say fire alarm) and the other bit in a bedroom.
I know he can't hear, but may be awake and see the light flashing....
It is pretty cold down south at the moment and I suspect a heater may be involved with the accident there or perhaps he had blocked off the vents to keep the cold out and suffocated for some reason (fumes?). I hope they release some details after the investigation.
So many caravan accident happen around the country for reason or another and unless we live near where they happen we never hear about them...In a mater of 30 odd ks in Victoria last week a relo was telling me that two small children where air lifted to burns unit in Melbourne with server burns from a gas bottle exploding re caravan, and then whilst an elderly man was sleeping in his van at a caracan park these thugs walked in and over turned his van onto the door side, the only way he could escape was by braking a window and calling for help. After they did that they continued into the fire brigade running track and over turned some thing onto the track. ..Thousands of dollars worth of damage to both caravan and running track. One wonders what these type get from doing such stupid acts.
