If you would have posted this on the general forum I may have read it but, as it's posted in this, the 'I Digress' forum I have missed reading it completely so will, unluckily, be unable to comment. :(

 Gday...

Don't think anyone was grumpy actually Doug ... jest proffering an opinion. "Ping Pong" chatting on some threads does wear thin for those who are not involved.

Got nuffin to do wif grumpiness, just a liddle bit frustrating after opening a thread with an 'interesting' subject and then scrolling through it all and reading the "off-topic chatting" trying to find if there was any 'informative advice'.

And yep, tomorrow is certainly another day, and hittin' da road is always a good thing to do

Cheers - stay well ... and keep a grin on the dial - John

 Gday...

Don't get the knickers in a twist dazren ... your posts usually bring a large grin to my face ... just understand the opinions of those who don't usually get involved in the 'banter' and therefore don't find it "interesting" ...

Keep up wot ya do ... jest remember not everyone wants to wade through heaps of playful 'digs' between mates on a thread seeking advice ... no matter how witty and/or humourous the 'digs' may be

Sorry if ya feeling a bit chuffed ... I am sure it is not the intention of anyone on this forum.

Cheers - and keep a smile on da dial - John

Wise words Rocky, agree that dazren should stick around, why let the AH's win?

Doug, I would be lapping up the warm weather at Townsville for a bit longer yet if you can, you might get a bit of humidity but that would just be due to recent rains mostly I reckon, still some good weeks of "dry" left before the real humidity kicks in.

Bloody cold down south (I know Perth is at the moment) and I know where I'd rather be and that's up north anywhere in Oz, including Townsville.

I think there are a number of "grumpy old men" on the forum around Doug, including me, goes with the age group I think...furious

Chins up everyone and soldier on, the forum needs you !! smile

I agree with RL - don't leave us dazren - you will be missed! I think the thread was started by Sheba to indicate to some posters that technical issues could be better off in the "technical" sub forum - that is how I read it. Not to censor other people -
The banter on here is often one of the funniest things on the forum - in my opinion - often better than the jokes section.
Keep on keeping us amused, daz - the world needs humour!!!!

I feel for Sheba though as she is right in what the original comment was about, I too have noticed it a lot but just plod along and keep reading.

I really enjoy this forum as it is better than therapy or worse, a straight Jacket and padded sell. I love the humour and add my sick humour as I plod along. Some threads get off track a little but who really cares, they always get back on track.

My thoughts anyway.

I had no problems with Sheba's post  .  However the best way to resolve things like that if anyone is concerned about it is to report it to Cindy, as Cindy pointed out in her post.   Yes, she is a busy person but she has asked for that to be done.

I am sure if she wanted another moderator (and not self appointed ones) she would appoint one....

Hi All

A few weeks ago I had a similar situation, felt like chucking the towel, for many of the same reasons as dazren, I didn't and I'm pleased and thankful for everybody's support.

May I add three thoughts;

  • I think what dazren is actually saying, is..............  He agrees with Cindy and will heed her words, but does not feel the censorship by "self appointed" persons is correct.
I totally agree with him so perhaps those responsible should wind their necks in and perhaps Cindy should have a quiet word with those responsible if she feels that this is the case.
  • I am learning fast who to respond to and who not to get involved with, therefore I chose my responses carefully.  If you don't want to keep reading a particular feed............... don't read it............. simple.  It's easy to not open it up.
  • Agree with the other posters dazren, don't depart because of others, there are many that enjoy the comments and humour that you provide on the forum.

Have a great day.

Looking at the General Forum today, the first three threads were technical IMHO so things haven't changed....no

I think Wombat may be thinking of tossing it in too, I certainly hope not! cry

Nothing wrong with your post Sheba, it was hijacked by a number of posters (including me), if any old subject was allowed to be in General (as well as chatter) then the forum might as well have only one section and put everything in General and no other sections. hmm

I don't think anyone would like that. no

Doug, I for one did apologise in Sheba's original thread;

" I agree totally and apologise to all for my participation in the verbal ping pong. cry

I will now go and sit in my corner in "I digress", genuinely sorry folks...  cry "

Geez I dunno Duh.... I wouldn't have seen them if they were in Techie's cos I don't expect to understand anything in there, confuse and don't usually read it!!!biggrin  Theres always one or two topics that seem to me to be better suited to I Digress, but Cindy will move them if she wants to.smile

Theres a lot more important things to worry about, please don't anybody get upset and quit. no

Having now read this and the original thread by Sheba, I'll put in my two bobs worth.

Sheba was just pointing out that sometimes the posts are in the wrong section. I'm sure she's sitting there now shaking her head. disbelief

Yes, sometimes the banter gets a bit boring, so I just back out of that thread. No need to get cranky about it.

In my opinion, techie stuff is often suitable for techies corner or the general forum. Like Gerty, I don't often go into techies corner because most of it is beyond me. confuse

As for Dazren, don't leave us! We wuves u!

HEY ???? whats going on here ?? A man logs off for a little while,  Then Logs back on To find all these comments and a heap of PM's,

The only reason i logged off was i was furiousfuriousfuriousfuriousfurious at what i consider a personal attack, on one of our very helpful and beneficial members ??

I had to either respond in my furiousfuriousfuriousfurious Mood, and then Cindy, [ the only person i will listen to ? ] Would have had no choice but to suspend me hmmhmmhmm

This forum has something special about it,  And 98 Percent of the members are a great bunch of people, and i enjoy all the contributions and conversations they share ?

As for the other 2 % Well I suppose They are not welcome at My campfire, and I am probaly not welcome at theirs

So thanks for the comments, and the PM's, BUT I HAVE NOT spat the dummy, And will still be around, I will also Try to follow the ''posting in sections'' rule as much as possible, IF I waver a bit, and make a mistake, ?? To the 98 % I say sorry awwaww and to other 2 % I say tough Ti--ies yawnyawn

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ohhh Yeah, Womby !! we are winners ?? so you better get your size 48 furry butt back on line, as i need someone to pick on ?? As i tried picking on the Missus, and after 42 years, have just discovered that she can beat me in a fight,.  and if i pick on Dougwe to much, he just crawls into the feotal position AND ''Sobs''??

Duh, Mark, Jules, all seem to be Educated, hmmhmm so it is difficult for me to pick on them, without suffering ''comebacks'?/
