We seem to be having a lot of posts that one would think should properly be posted in the "Techies" thread, in the General Forum again. What's the point of having specific Threads, if they're not used ?
Unfortunately the directions on posting are not clearly laid out - many items in general forum contain stuff that's general in nature but with a bit of technical stuff thrown in.....where should it go? May also be a bit of digress there as well. One post may contain bits that belong in 5 different forums if you disect it.
Personally I scan all the forums except singles and medical.
By my figuring, this post should have been in the "I digress" forum, not the general.......but that's just my take on it and I don't claim to be right.
There are a lot that seem to be posted in the wrong sections Sheba, a bit more care is needed by all of us to try to put them in the right place, also OT posts in sections that are not in "I digress" and I will put my hand up for some of those but will try my best not too....promise!
Sometimes things are answered faster in the in this section than they are in the techies forum. as this is the general forum, general questions could cover everything. I do realise that all comments so far are from Guru's but us peasants are here too.
Cheers Jack

you should be putting your hand up to ALL of them not just some of them.

good to hear some of us are helping with your questions etc but we all have to put up with Duh, Dugwe & dazren.
I reckon replies should be directed towards the OP's question/query or comment. It's only my opinion, but once a thread becomes chit-chat I lose all interest and this means that if the chit-chat starts before what may possibly be a very interesting thead gets intelligent answers, then it's all over red rover. One or two comments may be OK but not when it's like a game of tennis. My apologies if you feel I'm being boring. I have a suspicion that most GN's that don't post regularly feel the same.
Regards
Denis

Those comments seem a little personal ?? --- Keep looking ?? Happiness IS out there, and we all find it sooner or later ?
No not personal, these are lovely helpful nice people, but you can only laugh at wombat holes so many times and not helpful to those with limited access. This is such a great forum. Sorry but happiness is not about wombat holes.

Thanks everyone for your input. It does help with navigation and searches if members try to post in the section that best fits the subject matter. It also helps visitors who are looking for specific things, whether it be general information, jokes, rig photos etc to find - and enjoy - what they want. However, I understand that there are grey areas and hope that everyone can be flexible when they read others' threads. It is not an exact science ... and ultimately the most important thing is that we all find what we are looking for and enjoy the forum. I'll try to keep things in the right place as best I can, but I am hoping that this can be fairly self-regulating. Fingers crossed! Please let me know if you have any concerns about strings appearing in the wrong section. Thanks for your understanding everybody.
Being relative newbies we do try to post in the correct place but sometimes we may get it wrong...but we'll persevere.
Like Hako, we scan all the forums except singles and medical as there are some great pearls of wisdom and interesting info and we never know what we'll find on this terrific forum. A bit like Forest Gump: Life is like a box of chocolates......
