With the aggravation we had getting a very simple "Initials & Date" plate, I can't see it being that easy, and, who would really want their photo on their licence plate.
There is some benifit for business's I believe.

One of the problems with Personalised plates that I've noticed is that they 'stand out' a bit more than standard plates. If you happen to inadvertently upset another motorist, they seem to remember you more easily. Same thing if you have unusual stickers on your back window. Some of the Personalised plates are very clever though.
A successful farmer with the name McDONALD had EIEIO
A Rolls Royce with 4MYEGO
Then you get the 'hoons' advertising how fast they drive, having plates similar to FAST V8 etc. These are real 'Plod' Magnets and when taken to Court, the plate makes the offence seem ten times worse.
The rules were once that the coppers had to be able to read the plate from some distance back With colour coded plates and various sizes there difficult to read at any distance. The NSW RMS seems more interested in getting the kids in with colours and patterns rather than notifying drivers of rule changes. My latest rego envelope turned up the other day and was full of RMS product sales bumf not one thing dealing with rule changes, which there have been a lot
