Does it mean somebody who claims to be a bank manager?

One advantage of these pay wave you don't have to insert you card into a machine which can skim your details I think Pay wave is the same as money which you also take care with

Been some time now that transactions of less than $30 require no pin or sign at Coles. When it was introduced I complained (in writing) as it would not take long for a group of people to charge multiple $30 amounts to my card if I lost it. No one even responded to my complaint. At the checkout they said "Oh but your bank would refund illegal transactions" and at the bank they said "Not likely!" I lost $2000 when my card was stolen years ago because the pin numbering system is NOT secure. Now I keep a balance of $5 in my cash-card and my credit card has to be signed for (which hopefully puts me in a slightly stronger position if it is used illegally). But after all, carrying cash is not secure either. As to mistakes made by console operators, I had a similar experience in a small town servo where the operator thought it was OK but I didn't think so. I gave them my phone number in case it had not gone thru correctly, and they phoned me later and said it hadn't gone thru properly so I went back and paid. If it had been Coles or Woolies maybe I wouldn't have been so honest, I really can't say for sure, but a small family business relies on customers doing the right thing. And what goes around comes around. On mother's day in Mt Perry the owner of the servo gave me a choc bar with a flower just because he wanted to make sure all mothers got something even if they were away from homesmile

These are $49, if alfoil works inside an ordinary wallet that would be a lot cheaper.

Edit... have just had another careful look at this metal wallet, and there's no claim to card-protection. (?)

No so guys. It's easier to get it by wireless than inserting a card. At least with inserting the card you are (hopefully) aware of your surroundings and risks. If I had the correct reader I could skim info from your card as I wait behind you in the checkout line or simply walk past you.
