We have a 9500 (I think) model Dometic Awning with a complete annexe setup. The problem is that, I think it is called the annexe rafter, does not clamp tightly onto the roof and even a light wind pulls the roof from the rafter leaving a flapping hole. Is there an easy fix or could the problem be the aluminium strip has flattened. Hope somebody can help.
Glad you got your problem solved Bob, albeit elsewhere.
I'm sorry I couldn't help you as I don't know anything about the Dometic awnings and was trying to work out what you meant.
You would possibly have got a better response if you had posted this in the Techies Corner section, that's where members usually go when they need help with an RV problem..
Some of those who may know may be on the road in the warmer climes and may not have internet coverage.
For the less knowledge of us could you let us know how the problem was resolved please,
Thanks
Vic

I was that annoyed with the lack of response I felt like saying no but my good nature and humour got the better of me. For a start. The awning is Made in America and this particular one was made in 2006 even though the van was first registered in January 2009. This awning was a replacement after a battle with the wind and was just on 4 years on the van.
Our van is a 22' Supreme, inside the box, but the awning is just on 5 metres long and they apparently shrink up to 30mm in width. The first problem is that the rafter wasn't close enough to the awning to properly grip. There is a rough tape similar to Velcro that is attached to one edge of the rafter. this grips the edge of the awning if it can grab it.
Fixed by drilling another hole about 15mm closer to the awning. The other problem was the clamps were a bit loose. There is a bolt above the clamps and with small (read less than 1/4 turns) increments, you can tighten the clamps so they grip the awning tighter and voila - hopefully - maybe - possibly, fixed.
Thanks for your response.
I might add and probably should have, that this system is not peculiar to Dometic. Most if not all Awnings have the same system so it could be a fix for others. Remember that when putting up an annexe, the main bar should be on Roll Up mode. Pull the awning out and tighten the rafters that are part of the awning so the holes for the annexe part are just showing. The slide for the front wall should be at a "3 O'clock" position. This puts the wall rafters in the correct position.

Thanks for the reply and further info Bob, hopefully it will help others when erecting their awnings.
Welcome to the forum from us Bunkerbob. Don't be too quick to judge - it may not always be possible to answer your query within hours. Sometimes it could take a few days before someone actually can help. Glad you have now shared your answer so other will know what to do if they have the problem.
Thanks for the info re shrinkage and having to drill another hole. This is our first trip in a 2003 MillardHorizon although the Domico awning is a 2008 made in California model. I had huge problems getting the awning edges clamped as well as getting the spike into the hole on the roller. First job tomorrow will be to drill new holes as suggested!
